Before you lose patience with a crying child, know this. 💛

Crying is a child’s way of communicating feelings they may not yet know how to explain. They could be tired, hungry, scared, frustrated, overwhelmed, or simply needing comfort.

When emotions run high, remember:

🧡 Stay as calm as you can
👂 Try to understand what your child needs
🤍 Offer reassurance and comfort
⏳ Give them time to settle
🌿 If you’re overwhelmed, make sure your child is safe and take a brief moment to regain your calm
🚫 Never shake, hit, or physically hurt a child

Children learn how to manage big emotions through safe, supportive relationships with their caregivers.
Their crying is communication, not misbehaviour. Respond with safety, patience and care. 💛

🧠 Why Shaking a Baby Can Cause Brain Damage?

A baby’s brain, head and neck are still developing. Their neck muscles are not strong enough to fully support their relatively heavy head.

When a baby is shaken forcefully, their head can move rapidly back and forth. This sudden movement can cause the brain to move inside the skull, potentially damaging delicate brain tissue and blood vessels.

⚠️ Serious injuries can include:
• Bleeding or swelling in the brain
• Brain damage
• Seizures
• Vision problems
• Developmental difficulties
• Permanent disability
• In severe cases, death

If your baby’s crying becomes overwhelming, never shake them. Place your baby safely on their back in their cot or bassinet, make sure they are safe, and step away briefly to calm down. Ask a partner, family member, friend or healthcare professional for support when needed.

💙 Remember: Crying is a normal way babies communicate. Shaking is never a safe way to stop the crying.

Protect their developing brain. Never shake a baby.

👶💬 Why do babies often say “Dada” first?

Sorry, Mum… it’s not about favourites! 😂💙

There’s actually an interesting reason behind it. Early sounds such as “da” can be easier for little ones to practise and repeat, and hearing familiar words regularly can also play a part as babies develop their language skills.

So when you finally hear that adorable little “Dada!” 🥹 — it’s more than a cute moment. It’s one of the exciting steps in your baby’s journey towards communicating with you.

And don’t worry, Mum… your turn is coming! 😂

Curious about the reason behind those first little words? 👇

Why does my baby keep crying at night? 🌙👶

Night-time crying can happen for so many reasons — hunger, discomfort, being overtired, needing reassurance, or simply adjusting to their sleep routine.

Before assuming your little one just “won’t sleep,” try checking the basics:

🍼 Are they hungry?
🌡️ Are they too hot or cold?
💤 Could they be overtired?
🧷 Do they need a nappy change?
🤍 Are they looking for comfort?

Every baby is different, and some nights will simply be harder than others. Creating a calm, consistent bedtime routine can help your little one recognise when it’s time to wind down.

Save this for one of those long nights. 🤍

If your baby’s crying seems unusual, persistent, or you’re concerned about their wellbeing, seek advice from a healthcare professional.

Did you know mealtime helps babies learn more than just eating? 👶🥄

Every meal is a little learning opportunity! As babies explore different foods, they’re also practising important developmental skills. ✨

🥑 Sensory exploration — discovering new tastes, textures, smells, and colours
🖐️ Fine motor skills — grasping and picking up food
👀 Hand-eye coordination — bringing food from the tray to their mouth
🥄 Independence — practising self-feeding and using utensils
💬 Social skills — watching, interacting, and learning during family mealtimes

Messy meals aren’t always just a mess—they can be part of learning and growing. 💛

What’s your little one enjoying at mealtime lately? 👇

😴 Daily Sleep Schedule & Tips for Babies!

Good sleep plays an important role in your baby’s growth, development, mood, and overall wellbeing. While every baby is different, having a consistent sleep routine can help them recognise when it’s time to rest.

🌙 Tips for better sleep:
• Keep naps and bedtime as consistent as possible
• Create a calm bedtime routine—bath, book, cuddle, then bed
• Watch for sleepy cues like yawning, rubbing eyes, or becoming fussy
• Keep the sleep environment quiet, comfortable, and dim
• Follow age-appropriate wake windows rather than a strict clock schedule
• Always follow safe-sleep guidance: place baby on their back on a firm, flat sleep surface with the sleep space clear of pillows, loose blankets, and toys

Remember, sleep needs and routines change as your little one grows. Focus on consistency, safe sleep, and what works best for your baby. 💤✨

Save this for your next bedtime routine! 🤍
