Shaun Daniel Allen (Shal) a Yugambeh-born Bundjalung man, is known for bold, lyrical paintings that bridge cultural worlds through influences drawn from punk, tattooing and surfing. 2025 GQ artist of the year Shal has collaborated with brands including Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Apple Music and Nike. His practice explores movement, memory and place. Between Lands – L5, traces water, land and life through layered colour and gesture. Compressing past, present and future into a single visual field, the work also reminds viewers that sport in Australia takes place on First Nations land.

Found Golf and Up There present Clubhouse for Melbourne Design Week. 14-24 May, Up There, 69 Flinders Lane.

Join us for opening night celebration 6:30 - 9:30pm Thursday 14 May.

The exhibition brings together designers working with sports materials, designers who are professional athletes, those reinterpreting sports-related objects, and practitioners examining their personal relationships to sport. From golf to surfing, gym equipment to dartboards, sport is reconsidered as both a cultural phenomenon and a deeply creative form of expression.

The group exhibition seeks to foreground the revival of the clubhouse, reflecting contemporary values and evolving design aesthetics.
