Why did we create a botanical art poster to help fellow cat lovers keep their furry friends safe?

If you have a cat and a love for plants, you’ve probably been in this situation:
You bring home a beautiful new leafy friend, place it by the window, admire how it brightens the room — then, later that night, find your curious cat giving it a nibble.
Panic. A quick Google search. And then the awful realization: it's toxic.

This has happened to me more than once. With two extremely curious cats (Mochi and Pixel, if you’ve met them through my stories), I’ve had to become quite the accidental botanist — learning which plants are safe, and which ones can cause anything from mild tummy trouble to serious poisoning.

And I realised something: I’m not the only one. So many cat lovers have told me similar stories.

That’s why we created the “15 Toxic Plants to Cats” botanical poster — as both a piece of art and a gentle reminder.

It features fifteen of the most common houseplants that are harmful to cats — from lilies and monstera to sago palm and pothos. Each one is hand-drawn in vintage botanical style, with their names clearly labeled. It’s meant to be pinned up somewhere visible, especially for new plant parents or households with curious paws and whiskers.

To all the mums, stepmums, grandmas, aunties, and mother figures,and to those who mother in ways the world doesn’t always see.

Today, I’m reflecting on the quiet, everyday acts of care: the showing up, the long hugs, the knowing looks. To my own mum: i miss you. And to anyone missing someone today,I see you too.

This Mother’s Day, I’m inspired by a different kind of calendar,one that speaks to the land we live on.

According to Indigenous knowledge, “High Summer” (November to January) is when grass grows tall, seeds take root, and mother birds feed their young. A season of growth, care, and endless possibility.

That image stayed with me and became a scarf design: A Gouldian Finch mother feeding her three chicks, surrounded by blooming floras. A quiet celebration of love that nurtures, protects, and gives life.

To all the mothers and mother figures; may you feel seen, celebrated, and deeply loved today.
