Two unique Australian native timbers are combined in these matching ring. They are Spalted Blackheart Sassafras from Tasmania and Ancient Redgum from Victoria. The Redgum which has turned from red to almost black has been buried for 10,000 years.

This Acacia timber from WA has an incredible aroma similar to Jam, hence its name Raspberry Jam. I've paired this timber with silver in my 'Eclipse' ring.

Autumn is now upon us. It can be the perfect time for a Beach wedding. There is nothing quite like the sound of rolling waves and a gentle breeze to set the backdrop for your special day. Not to mention the amazing photos.

The groom is wearing a custom 'Titan' ring made from Western Australian Raspberry Jam and silver. This timber was a special request, which i was more than happy to do, as it had significance to the couple.

My Satellite earrings are now up on my webstore. The mimalist design made from Ebony and silver has a flat profile. They're great everyday earrings or even a night out.

Selecting timbers that tell your story is really important when choosing your wooden wedding ring.

I'm always happy to guide you through the process, so please don't hesitate to get in touch.

The image above is one of the first Titan rings I made. It was made for an old friend back home in WA some years ago.Ā

Made from 10,000 year old Ancient Redgum, this ring is a piece with a deep connection to the Australian landscape and is the oldest native timber in my collection.

Flash back to some of the first wedding rings made from QLD Ringed Gidgee I made some time ago. This timber held great significance for the couple and I was really pleased with how they came out. So much so I bought a few more blocks of this beautiful timber which I now have available in a number of rings.

One of my 'Orion' rings in the final stages. It needs a few coats of oil and a wax. This protects the timber and brings out its natural beauty. This piece is made from Queensland Ringed Gidgee and silver.

Hi, I’m Brendon

Here's a bit about my background and my jewellery, which is all handmade by me in my Melbourne studio.

I grew up in Margaret River, Western Australia, where I was trained by my dad as a fine furniture maker specialising in intricate, geometric inlay. Inlay is a process where hundreds of tiny timber tiles are shaped and pieced together to make a level patterned surface. Soon enough my passion for working on small scale lead me to making jewellery, and, after moving to Melbourne in 2009, I started Studio Brendon Collins.

What I love most about working with timbers from around the world is the incredible range of natural colours. That's why I never paint or stain my pieces.

'Handmade forever' is my personal philosophy, and I love bringing together traditional woodworking techniques and contemporary design to make pieces that will last. I still work with tools passed down through my family every single day, and I really take pleasure in sharing the stories behind where all of the different timbers come from.
