This , we’re celebrating the incredible 4,300+ Victorian families helping drive real-life improvements in hip dysplasia care.

Barwon Health is a major partner of VicHip.

Through the Victorian hip dysplasia registry (VicHip) at Murdoch Children's Research Institute - MCRI, families highlighted hurdles such as long wait times in clinics, managing nappy changes in a brace, and the uncertainty that follows a new diagnosis.

Using this feedback, VicHip and The Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne are testing practical improvements designed with families, for families:

✅ Smarter scheduling for regional and rural families, including same-day imaging
✅ Real-time SMS updates for telehealth appointments
✅ 3-day check-ins for families adjusting to a brace or cast
✅ Clearer, plain-language visit summaries and next steps.

These changes are now being trialled at RCH, with the aim of expanding across VicHip clinics and hospitals in Victoria.

This is the power of co-designed care.

Soooo in amongst the chaos of Hip Dysplasia Awareness Month we have an amazing Milestone of our own to Celebrate

Starfish Babes is ELEVEN! 🥳🥳

It is still such a pinch me moment. I could never have dreamed we would still be here after 11 years!!!

Who would have thought my daughters surprise diagnosis of Hip Dysplasia way back in December of 2014 would see us here today. 11 whole years of Starfish Babes, supporting, celebrating, commiserating with our fellow Hippy & Clubfoot Communities.

From our humble beginnings of handmade Sleeping Bags to a full range of Hip Dysplasia and Clubfoot items, it truly is an achievement we never saw coming.

It is still such a privilege to be a part of your babes journeys and there have been A LOT of babes!!! Thanks for sharing this part of your lives with us.
Your Support over the years has been what kept us going, from the private messages of thanks, to the shout outs on socials and everything in between, we truly appreciate each and every one of you.

Take a look back at just a few of our Highlights over the last 11 Years:

* 2015 - Starfish Babes was born

* 2016 - Our Affiliation with Healthy Hips Australia began by Sponsoring the Healthy Hips Kits which were distributed to Hospitals

* 2018 - Hip Hip Hooray T-Shirt Fundraiser for HHA raised over $600

* 2019 - Healthy Hips "Socks" Fundraiser for HHA raised $700

* We teamed up with the former MJ Hippy Covers to take on the Pavlik Harness Covers & Leg Cuffs

* 2020 - We outsourced our Sleeping Bags so they could be Quality Tested & Tog Rated

* Finally launched a New Website- only took 5 years!

* 2021 - Fancy New Logo

* 2022 - Started supplying covers to Flinders Medical Centre in SA

* 2025 - 10 Years in business!!

* 2026 - Eleven Years and Counting :)
