Henri Matisse Papier Découpés, art poster circa 1932.

The paper cut-out exhibitions and art posters from Henri Matisse have served as inspiration to many in childrenswear, womenswear and graphic and print design of late.

It wasn’t until the end of his career that Matisse created the form of cut-out art from paper - an entirely new technique that the French artist had invented himself.

Seen in fonts, prints and statement tees over the last few years, brands have been honouring Matisse’s installations, replicating the organic hand cut shapes as well as his style and colour palettes.
