Hey 👋
It has been so long since I have reintroduced myself. Hi my name is Jodie and I am the owner of Rust Boutique Melbourne. A bohemian inspired fashion boutique for the free spirited women.

My small business started way back in 2018 before I realized I was pregnant with my son Jacob. I had an idea of selling beautiful women’s fashion and accessories all year round.

As the world entered lockdown. I had a vision for my business to grow and re brand. I have always had a love for all things bohemian and free. Think colorful dresses , beautiful accessories and fresh linen looks.

Rust Boutique Melbourne was re branded and with that I registered for my first market at Mt Martha. The love and support I received from customers was amazing and inspired me to push harder and grow my business more.

I opened my own shop in 2022 in Seaford Victoria. It was a 6 month lease and it gave me the opportunity to design and introduce my own label for Rust Boutique Melbourne. My own label sold quicker than I could ever have imagined.

But between owning my own business and having a family. I hit burn out mode. My brain was foggy and my ideas became stale and old.

I stepped away from my business because I needed clarity on what to do with it as a woman in her 40s.

This year has been a great year for clarity. I love and miss my business. I love market life and everything that comes with it.

I feel stoked to say that I will be doing more markets this Summer along the Mornington Peninsula 🌞. I will only be doing markets at this stage.

It was the most perfect night for my first market back after a year off. Running down to the water in between customers and collecting shells to put on my little A -frame sign was a must 🐚

Thank you to everyone who came into my marquee and commented on my style. Your words and smiles brightened up my night more than you could ever know.

The best decision I could have made for my business was to walk away and leave it be, until I was ready within myself to return back to it and give it another try.

The feeling of burnout was real and I couldn’t see it until I stepped away .Thank you to for getting me to do Sorrento market , because it was a great feeling doing something just for me.

The joy it gave me last night was something that I had missed. The socializing with other stall holders that I had not seen in ages was lovely.
I hope everyone had a great night last night. But I am particularly proud of myself for dusting myself off and trying again.

Bringing Rust Boutique back to life in lightweight shell 🐚 buttoned shirts and palm tree 🌴 pants. Rust boutique can’t wait to be at Sorrento at the end of the month. Show casing our slow fashion range that we have on offer. We are firm believers of quality over quantity, and that small batches of quality stock is far better than fast fashion styles. Today we finally got to go ice skating ⛸️ after a wet and freezing day yesterday.
not only held a fantastic light display at night. But during the day an ice skating precinct is set up across the road for all ages and abilities.

45mins of ice skating and they even had options of skating penguins to hire to assist with novice ice skaters.

Another wonderful experience that we have had whilst on our little break , and another wonderful attention that has to offer.

Family friendly fun for all ages and one to tick off the bucket list ⛸️

What a year it has been , and it’s only April. To think this time last year I was in my own boutique store.

Now,12 months later. I am nearly finished studying and I am about to embark on an exciting new career.

Rust Boutique Melbourne paved the way for me in so many ways. I started this journey not knowing I was pregnant with Jacob , then rolling into lockdown with no idea if my business would survive it.

Rolling into markets and meeting the most wonderful people *cough cough* . Who I met at my first where we became friends instantly.

This journey has had some amazing times and I have met the most wonderful people whilst on it. However, it is time to hang up the reins.

I have chosen to close my business , which has been a hard decision .However, the time really has come and I am so proud of what I have achieved with Rust Boutique Melbourne.

I have a huge nothing over $40 sale on right now. So spread the word -near and far. Grab yourself a bargain , because hey. Who doesn’t love an amazing dress at $40??

I thank you all for your support over the 6 years of owning Rust Boutique Melbourne. From my very first market, to my very first collection drop ,to opening and closing my doors of my little shop in Seaford. Thank you !!!
