A-ESQUE world

Inspired by the stock room of a gallery, the back of house at A-ESQUE word in Armadale is fitted with generously deep floor to ceiling shelving. Making the back of house a place to discover and explore. The small symmetrical space with a double height ceiling is the space beyond the space. Magical lighting, color and the mirrored reveal are the interior elements that draw you inside. In a gallery like experience you will find pieces not showing in the front space that will be on rotation from the Atelier.

A-ESQUE world
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Tucked beneath the underside of a stair belonging to the building and surrounded in floor to ceiling mirror the first discovery beyond the main floor are custom built shelves displaying work from the Atelier. Unseen from the street or on entry the nook is a discovery that houses what would traditionally be regarded as the main display.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The generously deep glass shelves and crafted frame are seamless and custom made for the space. An intentionally raw and simplistic construction is deployed in contrast to heavily detailed joinery. The philosophy aligns with the construction approach of work from the Atelier. The humble material palette aligns in values and contrasts in color with the rich leather palette of A-ESQUE pieces.

A-ESQUE world

The back space of Armadale’s A-ESQUE world was designed to reflect how clients shop and browse at the Richmond Atelier. An intimate, back-of-house feel anchored by a generously scaled bench-height unit encourages pausing while trying on pieces brought out of the gallery inspired stock room. A diffused LED surrounds the three-metre mirror, subtly enhancing the understated palette with a halo effect.

Creating a human centred experience and brand defining aesthetic at once involved introducing subtle details like the custom leather mat signalling a service point where clients are presented pieces for consideration, where trying on and testing bag capacity could happen comfortably.

Mindful of the need to ensure the creative vision provides a memorable experience coupled with convenience and ease in an intimate setting that is distinct and defined by craftsmanship, quality and an attentive, understated human touch.
