Turns out you donā€™t need to go far šŸ™ŒšŸ½

Iā€™ve spent the last few months getting to know this little stretch of Auburn Road, and honestly, itā€™s stacked. A playground in a beer garden. A rocket you can climb. Tiramisu in flavours we didnā€™t know existed. Actual farm animals on a Sunday afternoon. All of it within about twenty minutesā€™ walk of our front door.

So I thought Iā€™d take you along for the walk.

These are the spots weā€™ve been sending people to since we moved in, the ones that make a weekend with kids feel easy instead of like a logistics exercise. Park the car once, or hop off at Auburn Station, and you can do the whole lot on foot.

We are so excited to officially welcome Phoebe as our new tenant !

Phoebe actually did my wedding makeup, and nearly every other event Iā€™ve ever been to! having her now working upstairs all these years later feels pretty special.

She is an incredibly talented hair and makeup artist, and an absolute expert at that natural, still-feel-like-yourself look. You will never walk away feeling cake faced, just like you on a really, really good day.

And personally, sheā€™s given me that little extra boost of confidence through all the seasons. Sleep deprived, self conscious, hormonal breakouts, postpartum, the lot. Thereā€™s something pretty magic about sitting in her chair and leaving feeling a little more like yourself again.

Weā€™re stoked to have her making one of our upstairs spaces her own and adding another beautiful service to whatā€™s happening under the Little Duck roof.

Hands full, hearts even fuller ā¤ļø

One week of Little Duck Hawthorn.

Today we wrapped up our very first Sunday and somehow, already, this space is starting to feel like home.

Thank you for walking through our doors, filling the racks, shopping preloved, telling your friends, bringing your little ones in and, most of all, seeing and supporting the vision we had for this next chapter of Little Duck.

We wanted to create more than a shop. A place to shop, sell, connect and feel part of something. And watching that begin to come to life this week has been pretty special.

Thereā€™s still so much to come, but for now, from our very full hands and very warm hearts, thank you for giving Hawthorn the most beautiful first week.

If I could take a photo of my floordrobe without worrying Iā€™d be exited from Instagram, I would šŸ˜‚ The amount of clothes Iā€™m putting on and just as quickly removing because they donā€™t look right, donā€™t fit anymore, or I just donā€™t feel like me in themā€¦ only to reach for the same oversized trackpants and cardi youā€™ll find me in day to day.

With the recent opening of our Hawthorn shop, we have a shoot coming up to capture the space and Iā€™ll be in some of the photos. Which suddenly meant I needed to find something I actually felt comfortable putting out into the world, all while still figuring out my body postpartum.

And Iā€™d completely frozen.

So I decided to get some specialist help and booked myself a styling session at Feather & Noise . I needed the basic quality staples that also gave some colour and fun.

This isnā€™t sponsored at all. Iā€™m simply a mum of 3 who had lost a bit of trust in her own judgement and body. Iā€™ve always aligned so much with their brand, ethos and style, but suddenly couldnā€™t figure out how to make any of it work for the new me online.

Iā€™m also at that awkward stage where nothing pre pregnancy really fits, and I think Iā€™m finally ready to rent myself a rack and move some of it on because maybe it never will. But my pregnancy and early postpartum wardrobe doesnā€™t feel right anymore either.

I took myself to their new Yarraville store and mummas, if any of this is sounding familiar, this is a place to hit up.

Is it just me or can you tell when someone has genuinely held mums in mind when designing a space? Having an in house stylist meant there was someone there to challenge the part of my brain that automatically wanted to grab something two sizes bigger, and give me the confidence to actually put things on and give them a go.

Sometimes you just need someone else to help quieten that voice for a minute.

Itā€™s okay to ask for help and seek some guidance in this stage. Your body can feel like an entirely new and unfamiliar setting, whether itā€™s your first baby or your third. And sometimes finding a few things that make you feel good in the body you have right now can go a really long way.
