Got my wings

These plants jump out at you for their ornate leaves resembling angel’s wings as well as eye-catching spots dotted throughout. No wonder they’re known as the Polka Dot Begonia or Begonia Maculata ‘wightii’ - a species of begonia native to southeast Brazil and grows naturally in the Atlantic rainforest of Brazil.

Have done plenty of research on care instructions as well as best ways to propagate. Am bouyed by articles the plant grows like wildfire and propagation is easy and highly successful through cuttings.

Will post once I begin the propagation stage as need to allow the plant to acclimate. But for now am happy I’ve got my angel wings 🫶🏻

Benefits of reading to your baby:
* Your baby hears and sees you in action using different facial expressions, emotions and sounds. This helps with social and emotional development.
* At this stage your baby learns to look, point, touch, and make their own sounds which helps with their social development, thinking and responsive skills.
* Their cognitive and language skills improve because they’re mimicking sounds they’ve heard you make, they recognise pictures, and begin to form words.

Spending quiet time reading to your baby shows that reading is important and helps the child to be content with just being still and quiet. By making a habit reading to your children with joy and excitement forms a happy connection with books and new readers are created.

Different Ages & Developmental Stage. Between 6–12 months old:
* They begin to understand that pictures represent objects, and show you certain pictures or books they like. They will respond while you read, grabbing at the book and make sounds.
* At 12 months, your child would have learnt to turn pages, point to pictures and objects, responding and repeating your sounds.

Here Kaia is enjoying her early Christmas present (because I couldn’t wait to give it to her) just to see her face light up when she saw her new and personalised book from .
At just 9 months Kaia has developed a wonderful love of books, has learnt to turn pages (with some help from her mum), and mimics noises and sounds.

Madison is brave.

Bound Infinity is Madison’s first published works of poetry.

As a lover of words (in book form - no eBooks or kindles for me thank you very much, though I work in a Tech category). I flipped through the pages and wondered, “what do these pages hold?” And with that off went my imagination into the wee hours of Sunday.

Where does one begin when each page drips with poignancy, piercing through one’s façade - the armour each of us hides behind? But I’ll try.

Standing on the Edge, pg. 39
‘I hardly remember how people look or talk
but I remember
their presence in the room.
how their gaze felt on my skin.
the tone of their voice.
how the emotion changes
when they’re around.’

Have we not all felt those moments at some stage in our life, about someone we’ve met? Poetry, the art of poetry puts into words what many of us feel but cannot articulate. The writer is gifted with the skill, the emotional tools to put to paper what many of us feel but are not brave enough to.

Madison is brave.

She got published! Bound Infinity written by Madison M L Wu.

Was so excited when word got around our family FB chats that a family member got her poetry published! Within minutes I’d hopped onto Amazon and ordered my copy.

As a lover of words (in book form no ebooks or kindles for me though I work in a Tech category) I flipped through the pages and wondered, “what do these pages hold?” And with that off went my imagination into the wee hours of Sunday.

Three quarters into the book I forced myself to put the book down. If I continued I would find myself at the end. I didn’t want the magical journey to end. The beautiful, inspiring, thought provoking, cosmic-filled-with-star dust journey I was swept in.

Reluctantly I put down the book to take stock, to process the words I’d just digested. Words written in such poetic language it was cathartic, edifying and supernatural.

I’ve yet to flip through the remaining pages for what I’ve read so far has carried me through the week; my head still stuck within the pages of Bound Infinity.

Will upload a review of Bound Infinity in coming weeks. Till then you can purchase the book on Amazon. If you’d like to know more about the author and her amazing journey of rediscovery follow her Instagram and other socials on her page.

Coffee bound.
Beach bound.

Couldn’t wait to take my foot off the peddle and head north for some much needed sun with this book in hand and a great coffee from
Also witnessed a pod of whales a d baby calf frolicking in the water!

The Book that Wouldn’t Burn was featured in the Book+Publishing Weekly Book newsletter and it hasn’t disappointed. Even George R. T. Martin likes it!

It’s your classic tale of a boy and a girl who both hail from two different worlds whose worlds collide. The fascinating twist is the worlds these two characters derive from.

Evar lived his whole life trapped inside a library of the ages. Whilst Livira has spent her life surrounded by an enemy usurper in a small settlement called Dust.

Both worlds unbeknownst to the rest of civilisation.

A pretty engrossing read so far, just need more days lazing in the sun to find out how Evar and Livira’s worlds collide.

Kaia’s reading journey.

Benefits of Reading to Your Baby.
Hearing words helps to build a rich cache of words in a baby's brain which helps in their cognitive, verbal, and visual development. But the most important reason to read aloud is the connection built between the things your baby loves — your voice and closeness to you and eventually books.

Different Ages & Developmental Stages -
 Between 4–6 months:
* Your baby may begin to show more interest in books. They will grab and hold the book (as shown by Kaia at nearly 5 mths).
* They may not know what the pictures mean but can focus on them, especially faces, bright colours, and different patterns. Eventually, as their development continues will learn to recognise these elements.
* When you read, sing lullabies and nursery rhymes, they will be engaged and can soothe your baby as well as soothe you.

So pickup a book today. Happy reading all!
