Oscars 2021 last night was a welcomed event representing the best red carpet turn out since the pandemic hit.
Social distancing was celebrated by designers with some of the night’s best gowns showing 2 metre wide Cinderella style gowns topped with while plunging V necklines or bare upper stomach.
Vibrant colours were on display which was rightly so given lockdown has been hard on our inner unicorn. Muted shades were relegated to first timers really while most impressive this year turned up in the men’s fashion category. Gone are the days of black or white tuxedos replaced by fushia pink, glitzy gold and blue shades. Footwear made headlines with the nightmare come true appearance of Crocs yes Crocs sullying Oscars red carpet. An 8 year old male actor took home my gong for third best dressed with his one striped sock while the Asians charmed us with family values galore with many sweet couple wardrobe matching moments.

The ladies and gentlemen, done in a different format this year due to the current Covid pandemic. The event showed us some great gowns. Well done to stylists and celebrities. 👏👏👏 What were your favorite looks? Here are my top 10 best dressed in order of preference.
wins in an Oscar de la Renta. I showed her again at the end of the 10th, and added two more looks in that just slipped out of my top 10. A great night for fashion. Some misses but that’s life! Peace out. 👗

I have not posted on this page for a while, but with a lot of time on my hands these days, I thought I would go back to my not so secret favourite activity, looking at other people’s nice clothes. 😂

When people ask me what is my favourite dress in a movie, this green one worn by actress Keira Knightly tops the list. I can never get past this dress in the film Atonement.
As one editor noted: “There’s a reason costume designer Jacqueline Durran was nominated for an Oscar. The entire plot twist revolved around the color of this one dress.”
I would add, the silhouette and cut of this dress.

Often, post Oscars dresses are better than the ones that we have seen walked down the Red Carpet, and you are then treated to gowns and tux across a wider section of Hollywood royalties and celebs making post parties a fertile ground to cast a fashion commentary on.

Qualifier: We are not in the business of putting down anyone to be mean, just having some fun with the fashion choices that the celebs and sometimes emerging celebs have made because it gives us an escape from our very own lack of fashion opportunities most likely! :)
