You’ve got an idea for creating a new Baby & Kids Garment, it’s Seasonal, it’s Exciting and you want to start now !!
However it’s all new to you, seems slightly overwhelming.... you ask yourself, where do I start?🤔

As a Baby & Kids Garment manufacturer one of the most common assumptions people make when they speak to me is requesting to Develop, Manufacture & Deliver a new product in 2 months. I would love to make that happen for you… Designing & Manufacturing a seasonal product does take time and requires planning ahead. If you’re considering this and want help with your planning journey, I’m sharing my top 3 tips of what I do when working on a new product to Develop & Launch.

✨ What is the product & what Season will you launch it in - Will it be a Spring / Summer or a Autumn / Winter garment?
- eg. Let’s say you want to create a baby tracksuit set, then Feb would be your launch month as the season we are heading in is Autumn / Winter. Set your go live date or week and work backwards from there.

✨ How long will it take to create my new Baby Clothing Design?
Allow at least 3-6 months for Design, Developing and Sampling Production as this is the time to choose fabrics, construct the design of your garment, wear the sample so the fit, workmanship and fabric quality is made how you envisioned it and meets your brands standard.

✨When is the best time to launch my new Baby Clothing Garment ?
- For any Spring/Summer clothing you want to launch, start in the Winter Season For an August/September drop.
- For any Autumn/Winter clothing you want to launch, start in the Summer Season For a February/March drop.

💭Keep this in Mind when thinking abut launching any seasonal garment.
Planning ahead like this provides clarity, you know how much time to dedicate on working and launching your new design.

10 years of Baby Blanks, In March, we turn 10!!🎈

Ten years. I honestly still can’t quite believe it !!

And if I’m being real with you, the last two years have looked different. We’ve been quieter online. Not gone. Not closed. Just focused behind the scenes, continuing to service our beautiful wholesale customers and Private Label clients. But personally, I hit a crossroads. There’s so much pressure in business to scale, expand, do more, be more. And while I absolutely believe in growth, I also had to pause and ask… what actually feels aligned? There was a season of burnout. And I know so many business owners understand that feeling. So we made a decision.

We've chosen to scale back not because Baby Blanks wasn’t working. But because I wanted to rebuild intentionally with purpose, be more present with my family and build a business that supports my life, not competes with it. What matters most to me, and to us, is supporting small businesses and start-ups. Just like ours once was.

What's next? Practical resources, helpful tips and new fresh Baby & Kids blank apparel with the same consistent quality and stock supply you can trust. YES, WE ARE BACK !!
Ten years in, I feel clearer than ever and excited for this new chapter. Baby Blanks exists to help makers bring their creative ideas to life.

💝Happy Belated New Year 💝

It's been a looooong red hot minute since our last post. Roughly 9 months to be exact not sure where to begin really.
This year I have decided to just regroup and get back to basics. I do come up with a clever word every year and forget what it is after a month. This year I'm going with consistent. I like boring and I like routines.
My struggles with trying to maintain a regular routine while cutting out the noise has been very testing to say the least. So, that's my word of the year and plastering it somewhere where i can see it or making it my wallpaper hopefully should be enough to help me remember.

I plan to take my own advice for one keep it simple yet significant.
For now I hope you've all settled in and gotten back into your amazing regular routines that work for you.

Winter is coming if you haven't felt the cooler weather already, then lucky you!!
I'm a firm believer of planning and really try hard to stick to a schedule especially when creating a new product or even introducing new colours.
Need some idea getting started? Consider these are the 3 helpful tips I do to help me get started when planning a Winter Wardrobe.

💡 Create a Vision board - You don't have to be a creative art director to do this. All you need is Pinterest & Canva or whatever source inspires you to come up with an ideas.
Save those images and make notes of why you like them and keep them filed in one place. Having a secret board on Pinterest is a great one to have. Doing this will help you get clear on your idea and outcome when it comes to decision making.

💡 Focus on Layering - When choosing what type of garments you want for your Winter Range, think about what type of fabrics are best for layering and the gsm of the fabric weight. GSM means Grams per square.
Aim for at least 3-5 pieces that compliment each other and can be used with other items you currently have in your catalogue. A long sleeve top can be paired with a jacket, joggers or jeans. A dress can be paired with a cardigan and leggings etc

Light is considered 100-170gsm
Mid is considered 170 - 340gsm
Heavy is considered 340 - 400gsm
Ultra Heavy is 400+ gsm

💡Start at least 3-6 months early - For us at BBHQ we design and develop our own garments so we start 6 months early making sure, sizing, style and fabric quality meets our expectations, that process may take up to three months alone. This is where the vision board comes in, it is a lifesaver to We don't rush this process as doing so only creates costly errors later on. Production it self may take 2 months, this is the time you want to be working on your marketing plan. Lastly allowing 4 weeks for delivery. (when it's on time lol).

When choosing ready made designs you still want to start at least 3 months early by getting your Vision board done first. 😉
