Might've had a little bit too much fun organising some surprise decor for a one shot evening last night . It was a wonderful ,magical and chaotic storytelling tabletop role playing game run by my brother in celebration of his birthday.

Made some magical potions in old alcohol bottles, including one that glows in the dark which my Small humans have claimed for themselves after the party.
Most other items I foraged from our home decor and crafting stash. Only purchase was some faux moss and little fairy lights for the lanterns.

Also I got to dress like and pretend to be a magical pirate goddess so what's not to love.

Honestly it was just lovely to get to be creative without any high stakes and flow with playful energy for this little project.

If you are a lover of boardgames, fantasy and some intriguing ttrpgs beyond classic D&D then you should definitely give a follow. (Especially if you are a fan of and his cosmere as well)

Had the privilege of pattern testing the Garden Stays pattern for brand new pattern maker .arden.official.

I am so excited and proud to have been part of this project. I've been wanting to sew a set of stays for ages but never felt quite brave enough to try. This pattern was so beautiful to work with and I already have my next fabrics chosen for another project with it.
arden.official is a local Newcastle creative too so it feels special to support someones business dream who is so close by.

Would definitely recommend purchasing this gorgeous pattern 🪡

If you've got a couple of projects under your belt and are familiar with your sewing machine you have nothing to fear , I believe in you and this pattern will guide you well

The final part!
I learned a lot with filming this, including that I would like to work out better lighting in my tiny studio at home. However I had a lot of fun making , filming and sharing this and I'm definitely hoping to improve my skills at filming processes ( and editing).

I think sharing something a bit off kilter and unpolished by way of a side quest has definitely helped me overcome a bit of perfectionism procrastination. Hope you enjoyed this as I do intend to start making more videos just playing with creativity and sewing projects trying to reclaim the joy in it

Part two of a chaotic sewing project sparked by finding this crazy bright piece of lace in my Nan's stash🪡

I've not played with bright orange that much but I was gifted a lipstick in this shade a while back and it's become an absolute favorite 🧡💋

I traced a vague pattern from one of the pretty little things in my top drawer and am improvising from there. Really chuffed with how well it's coming together. 🎀

Honestly. Trying to find clothes that you like and that fit well can be a nightmare.

Especially if you are caught in trends without a strong sense of how you want to feel & look when you put together your outfits.

However, if you can persist and find even one outfit that makes you feel your most confident self it can become a key to unlocking your own style.

I love playing around with different aesthetics but I always come back to a vintage silhouette with a fitted waist and full skirt when I'm after something I know will make me feel glamorous. 💋💄

I'm curious do you have an outfit that always makes you feel good? Or maybe there was one in the past you're sad to have said goodbye to?

There are obvious reasons why I usually wait until the twins are not home , or are at least engrossed in screentime to film 📽️

However, I was really really happy with this outfit I put together from some second hand pieces a friend gave me and wanted to record it quickly before we left.

I thought I still had plenty of time before we needed to go. Spoilers ,we were late and I just barely got a full take without a cameo.🤣

Anyway here's to finding time for your own creativity and joy as a parent 💕❤️

Me though? Imma play dress ups every chance I get. Especially if I'm going to see one of my favourite humans for a coffee at my favourite cafe.

The weather here in Newcastle has been giving some anomalous cool days in betwixt horrific heatwaves ( no I'm not using AI I've just gotten back into reading fantasy novels so my brain is enjoying playing with words)
This particular day was a cooler one so I took the chance to play with some layers.

Any who I Hope you're being kind to yourself, and to the folks around you. Choose whimsy, don't ignore the rage building within. We fight back with kindness and being a place of safety for those around us.
