The Social Outfit is a social enterprise retail store, onsite manufacturing and sewing school. We believe creativity and fashion leads to learning and empowerment for people from new migrant and refugee communities.

Today is World Refugee Day.

​A day to celebrate the strength and resilience of refugees while raising awareness of everything it takes to build a new life in a new country.

Australia has now welcomed more than one million refugees.

At The Social Outfit, we open that door for refugee and new migrant women. We create opportunities for inclusion, independence and opportunity.

What a Friday morning! 🎉

Congratulations to Samah, Zulaikha, Aqela and Hamida - the newest Retail Training Program graduates!

These four incredible women have excelled - finishing the program equipped with new skills and a new found confidence. All four of them are heading into their second Australian jobs with our employment partners. We couldn’t be prouder.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at the First Things First Breakfast to celebrate them.

Han is an incredibly strong woman, and continues to fulfil her dreams, setting a powerful example for her son.

Han’s first Australian job was at The Social Outfit, and today she’s excelling as a Senior Sewing Technician.

This year, Han’s work reached the highest stage: she designed the gown worn by Governor General Sam Mostyn AC at the Royal Reception for Queen Mary and King Frederik of Denmark. 👑 Governor-General of Australia

Stories like Han’s start with one thing, a first opportunity.
