Alcoa wants to keep mining bauxite out of the northern Jarrah forest. The lowest grade bauxite on the planet. To get at it they clear ancient native forest, the kind that took thousands of years to grow and does not grow back. Rehabilitation is a line in a press release, not a thing that actually happens.
30,000 hectares. The drinking water catchment for Perth sitting right underneath it. Species that live nowhere else on Earth.
And the WA Government is about to decide if they get more.
