Another May done. My contribution to Milo May this year was an Otis knit from stash Vanitas DK. I’ve paired it with a matching Banksia beanie. From my two balls, I had enough left over for another wee Banksia Beanie. I’m adding all these to my basket of goodies.

Looking for a Sunday cast on?
I’ve just released Rhodanthe, a sweet little bonnet knit using delightful Egret — a sport weight/5 ply yarn. This sweet wee bonnet uses minimal yarn and is super fun to knit with a simple daisy stitch, back of head shaping and i-cord.

For the next week, if you pop 3 beanie/ hat patterns into your Ravelry cart, the third is free!

Rhodanthe is available on .ravelry , in my Payhip store and soon on (see bio for links)

Folks! I totally forgot about Milo May!

Even though we no longer have a big KAL, I still like to run the discount for May. But I forgot! So for the rest of May, the family of Milo patterns (Milo, Milo Bambino, Dolly Milo and Otis) are all 25% in both my Payhip and Ravelry store. No codes required.

Remember to share and tag me in your Milo May knits. xx

This is the jumper I just had to knit after knitting the viral skinny scarf in this mohair blend yarn. It was a process; I’d knit four of the other balls into a lace wrap that I was never going to finish and just wasn’t working. Let’s be honest. I’d probably not wear either. Once I frogged and washed, the yarn was still crinkly so I had to steam it all. It did come up nicely with a steam though.

This is Love Note by . It’s light and airy and beautifully relaxed. It weighs just 215 grams. Yes, it took not even 4 and a half balls. I bought this yarn on special many years ago for 50 cents a ball. Are you mentally doing the maths? Yep, that’s a $2:15 sweater.

I still have two white balls and just under two of this grey left. I’m thinking maybe a striped t-shirt style jumper.

I’m not gonna lie, I thought my daughter would love this little scarf and strongly hint for one like it. She didn’t. Even when I explained it was a super viral knit she was just like, “Oh, okay.” Lesson learnt. Regardless of how viral this wee scarf has become in the knitting world, it seems it hasn’t quite made it in the inner city hip Melbourne vibe where scarves are, I’m predicting, gonna be a chunky affair this winter. Oh well.

Pattern and yarn details: I’m on a knitting from stash bent where I reach deep into my stash pull out some yarn and have to knit it into something. This ball of Cleckheaton Studio Mohair seemed logical for a skinny scarf. I used The Simple Thing pattern but borrowed some styling aspects from the Sophie pattern. It’s cute and fluffy and light and all things I thought it would be… but my immediate thought when I finished was, this yarn would make a great jumper. So off I went in search of the six remaining balls in my stash.

Are you interested in previewing knitting a quick sport/5ply pattern?

If so, I have two in the works - Rhodanthe and Sweet Annie’s Mitts.

Both are knit using Augustbird | Hand-Dyed Yarn & Mindful Knitting Egret; a delightful blend of merino and silk. They both use less than 50g of sport weight.

I’m keen to see what other yarns knitters may sub with too.

Timeline: 4 weeks.

If you’re interested, there are more details on Ravelry my group Tikki Love or send me a dm here.

I still have just under 40g of this delightful yarn left. What should I design with it?

Easter time … thank goodness for end of term break and some time to reset That was a wild first term.

Along the way I’ve been dabbling with this glorious Egret; a divine 4ply yarn. Have you tried it? It’s a delicious blend of silk and merino - I’ve previously used this blend for my Oolong shawl.

i love the pinks in this yarn, they’re so pretty and calming. . I did however have some trouble getting accurate colour representation. The single mitt on the olive green background is the closest to true colour. Any tips on getting this colour true in modelled shots?

Somehow we’re suddenly in Week 4 of term. So that means back to routine, early mornings and early nights, school lunches, and new year 7s. It has been …interesting.

Coincidentally, I’ve noticed lots of love for this pattern, Surfside. I first knit it as a school jumper when my kids were at primary school and their uniform was a horrid poly windcheater that faded in five seconds.

I miss those little people days, this little boy has just started year 12. How crazy!

Anyway, you can find Surfside on Ravelry or my website ( link in my profile)

New pattern alert: A little Summer knitting resulted in this little fella finally seeing the light of day. Gungurru features the pattern for both the blossom and the gum nut. Both are super simple and super quick to knit in 8ply.

As an introductory offer, when you buy a copy through my Ravelry store you can select another flora pattern for free. Gungurru pairs perfectly with my gum leaves pattern.

Summer can be a two-edged sword when it comes to crafting; the longer days and even holidays make it feel like you have endless time but sometimes the heat just isn’t conducive to having a large project like a blanket or jumper in your lap.

Here are my top pattern suggestions:

1. Cotton accessories: quick easy and small knits like this free pattern Bishi are perfect. Equally, dishcloths and washcloths make for great Summer knits. Look for my free Buni face cloth pattern also on Ravelry.

2. Smaller size shawls like Portree are quick mindless knits and lighter in the lap. Repetitive stitch patterns or patterns written with bite-size chunked instructions make it easier to dip in and out of the project as you’re dipping in and out of the water. Try Portree, Superb Fairywre, Fleurir or Kindled.

3. If you really want to knit an adult garment try something in a lighter weight yarn like Summer Festival. Sport weight yarn is perfect for Aussie summer garments like Summer Carnival and Lizzie.

4. Baby or small size kids knits also make for superb summer knitting. 4ply patterns such as Posy 4ply, the smallest size of Bloom, Wallably 4ply, Milo Bambino, or Baby Acacia are nice and light in the heat. Sport weight patterns like Carousel, Ferris Wheel and Elizabeth are also perfect.

5. Flowers like my Australian flora patterns are all small, quick and fun knits. Choose from Common Everlastings, Common Heath, Flax Lily, Red Parrot Pea, Tea Tree or even gum leaves.

6. Linen is divinely cool to knit with. Try something like a linen shawl pattern like Botany Bay.

7. While it might be too hot to wear them, their small size makes bonnets and beanies a terrific Summer knit. Use up your scraps in any ply by knitting Scrap Heap or opt for a patten with lace detailing for a lighter knit, like Florence, Sassafrass, Hannah, Landscape Beanie or Murnong.

8. While a lot of knitters love sock knitting in Summer, I prefer mitts - less shaping. The 4ply of Clubhouse Lane makes for a super light knit. Try also Heart in My Hand or Nimmo St mitts.

9. Cotton knits are cool knitting. Try kids patterns like Baby Acacia, Acacia, Darwinia, Eden’s Adam and Eve or Tropical Lily.
