I can't think of a better way to end Dragon Fashion's run than with a sunny Queensland wedding yesterday.
This gorgeous bride came to see me with the idea of removable sleeves. It took some experimenting and a little last-minute tweaking but we got there: long sleeves for the church ceremony, short sleeves for fun photos in the sun, no sleeves for party time! One dress, three looks. MT also opted for a cathedral train on a full circle skirt, which was perfect for her lightweight satin dress. The veil was an Italian silk tulle to match the length of the train 👰🏼💃🏼💍💒

Thank you to all my lovely clients over the years, the one-timers and the regulars. Thanks to you I was able to earn a living doing what I love 🪡🧵

My little business grew and grew and I am so grateful, but I am now moving onto different pastures. Sewing will always be a part of my life but as a hobby 😌

What a year it's been! Every time I make a wedding dress, it becomes my new favourite - my latest one did not disappoint. I received the biggest single order I've ever had (50 cassocks!) which I'm still chipping away at, nearly there. I met many new lovely ladies (and some gents), and many of you came back to me or recommended your friends. Thank you to all of you gorgeous people, thank you for trusting me, thank you for choosing me to be a part of your wedding, your party, or simply your wish to be comfortable in something that fits just right.

I am shutting down shop for the rest of the year, except for those of you who've already asked me to help with that dress that's going to need alterations but still hasn't arrived in the mail. Get in touch if you have an emergency and I'll see what I can do, otherwise a Merry Christmas to everyone, and I hope to see you next year. May all your wishes come true 😚🥰🤗🎄🎅

I had the privilege of making Eliza's wedding dress. Eliza is a wonderfully accomplished young woman who wanted something elegant, timeless and modest. She opted for a flowy dress with an overskirt and train for the ceremony, which she removed to reveal her shorter dance-friendly dress for the evening.
The overskirt is made of Italian satin, the dress of Italian lace and Japanese so-called "liquid satin". The liquid satin was perfect for Eliza's self-choreographed wedding dance. The veil was adorned with lace to match the dress. Eliza made her own bouquet.

For her something-borrowed, Eliza wore her mother's bridal petticoat. We had a slight wardrobe malfunction when the 25 year-old petticoat was stepped on and a trim started pulling away, but nothing I wasn't able to fix on the spot.

As all mothers-of-the-bride probably know, it can be difficult finding something to wear. At Eliza's suggestion, I was asked to pull apart her mother's wedding dress and remake it into a mother-of-the-bride's dress. We added a gorgeous colourful lace over the skirt.

I also made the groom's Ascot cravat in a deep green to match the bridesmaids.

Hello beautiful people 🥰

It’s been a while! These last 18+ months I’ve kept busy with smaller-scale projects, and I did manage one deb season during a break in lockdowns. I also gave myself some time to completely switch off from sewing in order to focus on my and my family’s mental health, which I hope you are all taking the time to focus on also 💕

With an easing of lockdowns looking more permanent, I am excited to welcome you all back for all your sewing needs 👗🧥👖👘🥻

What a crazy year it's been! After a few (sadly) cancelled weddings and a quiet few months, a lot of you came back with a vengeance! I appreciate you all, and want to say a big thank you for continuing to trust me with all your sewing needs 🤗🥰

I am now officially shutting down shop for the silly season - see you all next year! And surely it can't be too much to ask for it to be better than this one!

These girls have all three come so far with their sewing skills - from not knowing which way to face the sewing machine (for some of them at least 😆), to now making clothes for themselves and their whole family, costumes for everyone at the office, bags, stuffed toys etc... 👌👍💪
