Caught myself today in one of those dead quiet moments in the shop, just me, the colour, and the hum of the fridge in the back room. And honestly? I had a little chat with myself.
Reminded myself that I built this whole technicolour world from nothing. That every shelf, every weird and wonderful product, every local maker I get to support, it’s all here because I decided Parkdale needed more colour and kindness in it.
Quiet doesn’t mean it’s not working. Quiet just means I get a minute to actually look around and remember how much I love this little shop.
So if you’re a small business owner having a slow one today, this is your reminder too. You’re doing a great job. Even when the till isn’t singing, you’re still building something real.

✨ A little shoutout for someone special ✨

This year I’ve been lucky enough to have Elise with us at Hello Annie for her Vocational Major placement, and honestly, our store is better for it. She’s been so good that I’m now slightly worried about how we’ll cope without her (we will not cope).

Elise is the kind of person every workplace hopes for. She’s kind, courteous with every single customer who walks through the door (even the ones I’m secretly hiding from), self motivated without needing to be asked twice, and takes instruction so well, which honestly puts the rest of us to shame.

Elise has her heart set on a future in fashion, and she’s looking for a placement for second semester. If you’re a Parkdale local (or know someone) in the fashion world who could use a keen, hardworking VM student, I cannot recommend her highly enough. Give her a chance and I promise you won’t regret it. She’s a far better employee than I ever was at her age, and honestly probably better than I am now.

Okay so I think I have a clock problem.

Hello Annie is FULL of them right now and I genuinely cannot stop buying them. Kit-Cat Klocks, wall clocks, novelty clocks... if it tells the time, apparently I need it in the shop.

The logical explanation is that I have great taste and an eye for a fun statement piece. The other explanation is that I am deeply, pathologically afraid of being late somewhere.
(I’m going with the first one.)

Tick tock, the Kit-Cat Klock has officially clocked in at Hello Annie! 🐱⏰
These iconic beauties are NOW IN STORE and we have them in ALL the colours — bright orange, pink, aqua, and the classic black. Something for every wall, every vibe, every cat person (and honestly, every person).

The eyes and tail are supposed to move in that wonderfully hypnotic way that Kit-Cat Klocks are famous for… but in this video they are very much not doing that. Because I don’t have batteries yet. 🙃

Stay tuned for the fully animated, eye-wiggling, tail-swinging version. It’s going to be deeply satisfying.
In the meantime, all are on display in store — come in and pick your colour! 🧡🩷🩵🖤
