I have mental glimpses of the windows in the city, mostly of Christmas, from when we would come down from the Goldfields to the ā€˜big smoke’. 😁 The loss, not only of the window displays, but often the windows themselves, is a significant part of the loss of atmosphere in the CBD.
This was a time when the windows and the lights of the city centre made the CBD a destination in itself! When families would actually get out of their cars just to walk the streets to look at the windows!
How many years since a family has even thought of doing that?

I’ve been following Attire’s Mind for a few months now. From fashion’s history to cutting edge design, he is always interesting & illuminating.

Mathias Ouvrard designed this remarkable sweater/jumper. The base is of black wool and it is rather singularly embroidered with tubes, circles and pom moms of yellow wool. He was helped in its construction by Benjamin Guillier, Anne Garcia
and Virginia. The resulting garment has an almost armorial aspect to it, but retains something playful as well.
The reason I’m sharing this is as an example of how continually we, as humans, are challenging ourselves to re-imagine the known and accepted into something new, something unique. We seem hard-wired to be unwilling to accept the known for very long before we have to fiddle with it to see what else is possible.

Sublime cut from Isley Miyake. Zoom in on some of the seams and imagine the complexity of getting textiles like these so close to perfection.
