Just when we think it couldn't get any worse, the Victorian government has given the green light for a FULL native Stubble Quail shoot starting today, despite the little birds numbers crashing to just a third of what they were two years ago. Worse, the critically endangered plains wanderer is in the line of fire. WHO...ARE...YOU...LISTENING...To...JACINTA????

Watch out Warralily and Geelong!

Grown adult men who think they are cowboys and pretending to be war heroes are about to descend on the Geelong wetlands. They will be armed with shotguns, misogyny and a spiel about their ‘rights to outdoor recreation’ that their union fought so hard for instead of doing something useful like protecting workers lives while actually at work.

Duck shooter presence will ensure that public access to the lake is restricted for walkers, kayakers, bird watchers, photographers, paddle boarders and other outdoor enthusiasts but you won’t know that because there’s no signage up to tell you where and when you legally can’t access it.

Stay safe Geelong. These manly men litter live ammo in the car parks. They also leave discarded shotgun shells littered throughout the wetlands (though Jeff Bourman MP is still in complete denial that the shotgun shells littered on wetlands are from duck shooters and calls you a fascist if you send him pictures of them as proof 😉).

If this season is anything like the last 20, there will be illegal shooting before and after the legal shooting time in Geelong while the authorities tasked with policing duck shooting sit on their hands in the warmth of their cars, that’s if they decide to turn up at all. Those shooting time limits exist because you can’t identify birds in the dark, even the most experienced bird watchers will tell you that.

If you want to help, make sure you let your State Labor MPs know that duck shooting has no place in a civilised society and definitely has no place in a CITY such as Geelong!
