Teaching our little ones the value of kindness is a gift in itself.

I've been baking up a storm with the kids this year and decided to auction a gingerbread house for charity. We were stoked that we were able to raise a total of $700 with this auction, providing Foodbank Victoria with a little extra help for families in need.

As parents, we have the opportunity to instil the values of empathy and generosity in our children. Whether it's donating toys, clothing, or gathering food for those less fortunate, every act of kindness makes a difference. And I am a true believer that kindness goes a long way for everything we do in life.

So let's continue to teach our kids the joy of giving and the impact it has on others, especially during this time of the year where gift giving is such a big thing.

May the spirit of kindness and giving warm your hearts and bring you joy this holiday season.

Have you finished your Christmas shopping yet?

I'm always torn when it comes to Christmas gifting - on one hand I'm told that my kids will only be little once so I should let them feel spoilt once a year. On the other hand, I don't want my kids to grow up being so entitled.

I have a big extended family and the kids always get more toys than they can handle - so we would normally put toys aside and don't open and play with them all at once.

This year I've introduced the concept of Christmas giving to my kids and together we have raised $700 for the Foodbank by auctioning a gingerbread house that we made together. We've also done a few shopping runs together to buy food for those in need. So they're now understanding that Christmas is not just about Santa and presents.

Should I just let them be kids and enjoy their showering of gifts and feel super lucky and loved? Or am I being too strict
of a parent to restrict them of playing with all their new toys?
