Citizens of WA... our trees need our voices, and so does this beautiful, courageous community of Nanas for Native Forests.
🌳🌏
What are you doing Tuesday morning? Come and have a community cuppa and support them at a mass morning tea in Perth, this Tues 24 Nov, sharing our voices and concern for the deforestation happening here.
🌳
Our voices have so much power to facilitate change, I feel so deeply a need and urge to shift my thoughts and feelings of great despair and longing for our environment into something positive, heartfelt and meaningful. If you feel this too, please come along and let’s find a way to move forward together, in common-unity with each other with Mother Earth. 🌳🌏✌️

・・・
What's this Nanna nonsense?

The ‘Nannas for Native Forests’ are meeting with Forestry Minister, on the 24th of November to discuss his government's policy on logging WA's native forests.

Come along to support the Nannas and send a strong message that we want the forests protected for climate and for life! ✊🌳

Join the chorus of Nannas and Wannabe Nannas as they premiere the Nannas’ anthem (Watch this space for that!)

Expect a mass morning tea. Bring your friends, children and your grandchildren. Bring cake, bring your teapot, and your picnic blanket.

🌏 Birthing in New Earth

I am beyond inspired by dear friend and visionary .briatico for birthing and manifesting this incredible 6-day gathering beginning today with incredible speakers, presenters and storytellers.

There will be over 45 International speakers discussing topics around sexuality, menstruation, fertility, pregnancy, birth, motherhood, parenting to conscious business and entrepreneurship to spirituality and new earth. There will be offerings of yoga, meditation, talks, interviews, music, dance and more!

I am so heartened to be participating in this event, receiving the deep wisdom being shared by so many inspiring presenters and also presenting; sharing my offerings for supporting a new earth. I will be sharing about the power and medicine of rest and how a conscious rest practice has changed my life, I will be guiding you through a Yoga Nidra; the ultimate embodied practice for reclaiming rest.

The divine Kate Jarvis, reminds us of our responsibility for deep self care:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

From Kate ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"In this moment, we are being reminded of our responsibility for deep self care. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As human beings, it is inevitable that we will all be asked to navigate seasons of greater challenge throughout our cycle of life; these challenges will arise differently for each of us; health issues, work and financial pressures, raising children, losing loved ones, relationship challenges, global pandemics, social and humanitarian injustices are just a few. How we respond, and to what extent we can live in relationship with these arising tensions has consequences for our collective wellbeing.”

Many many moons ago I felt called to create a space that I deeply longed for...
🌱
~ A sanctuary where I could lay down my bones... and rest.
~ A safe space where I could be invited to simply be in my body, perhaps to explore very gentle movement, without expectation.
~ A sacred pause to simply fall back into my nature and be held in our universal nature.
🌱
Many moons later, I continue to lovingly hold space for these seasonal mini retreats, they are my deep need in this world. I will be guiding my next seasonal exploration: Stirring into Spring next Saturday 26th Sept . This will be an afternoon of embodied exploration, easing and gently opening the body as we tune into the energy of spring through (very) slow flow and gentle yoga, restorative yoga and a deeply relaxing Yoga Nidra.
🌱
The afternoon embraces a slow rhythm to support reflection and invite intention for the emerging seasons of light & growth. If this speaks to you, you can find more information in the link below, or please reach out if you have any questions...I would love to rest with you. 2-4.30pm, $45 pp, places are limited.
🌱
With much love for your transition into Spring, Kate 🙏🌱💚

Heading into this full moon like🤸‍♀️....

From tomorrow I’m taking a self appointed retreat for a bit... im not heading away anywhere or doing anything fancy... just tweaking a few things for the next 4 weeks, here’s what I’m hoping for;

~ Books: lots of them. But actual books with pages to turn (not swipe). Unhurried hours in the library just browsing. Also, self-development & self-help books are out - none allowed - cook books are in. With recipes full of butter, sugar and flour. Also novels I would never usually read...something to make me laugh and cry. Any suggestions?!

~ Rest: lie-ins, midday naps, cat naps, early to bed, lots of daydreaming.

~ Nights out: 2 live music gigs, 1 solo, 1 family... maybe there’s more!

~ laughter: seriously, I am beyond serious about the seriousness of life right now. I need some lightening up... you know that full belly laughter, tears streaming, cheeks hurting, on the floor, can’t stop... yep - that.

~ dancing: lots.more.dancing needed. Zumba classes are coming I can feel it - (dancing & laughter done) and even the local swing or jazz classes might get a look in💃🙃.

~ connection: with me, with my people, here in my house. Taking time off social media to truly hear the voices that need my bestest listening ears.

~ slow-schooling... less of the running around doing all.of.the.things... most looking forward to a month of simple connection, just rolling with where the days take us.

~ putting down this phone a bit more... Calling people yes, texting yes... but using my computer for emails and a camera for photos... let’s see what happens!!!

Sending love!! call me, email me or see you on the other side 😘

Many hands make light work...
♻️
We wrapped up yesterday with a life~schooling trip to learning about the amazing work Narelle, Kerrie and other volunteers are doing as they work to divert thousands of plastic lids from landfill.
♻️
The kids spent the morning sorting plastic types and colours which get repurposed into plant pots... coffee cups and surfboard fins!
♻️
You can support this amazing initiative by volunteering, saving your plastic lids & buying their products feeling inspired to keep our efforts heading towards !

Plastic free July
♻️
Last week, I went along to a local book launch to hear local and founder of Rebecca Prince-Ruiz share her story.
♻️
Its always so inspiring to hear people share their story, their dream and their vision. Even more amazing when you hear how 1 person’s mission can become a source of inspiration for so many other people, families, communities, schools and workplaces. This woman’s heartfelt pledge is now a global initiative... and a beacon of hope in our fight against plastic pollution.
♻️
What we do matters. Our small gestures count. I bought her book to read her story, to be reminded of the small changes I can make. To read the stories of community and messages of hope when I’m feeling despondent and it all feels too hard. As Rebecca signed my book she asked who it was for... I said for my son...we’re doing this for the children...
“To Marley, With best Wishes to you on your journey ~ I hope we can leave you with a cleaner world.” 🐢🌏♻️😭.
♻️
Let’s do this... together.

Plastic free July
🌏
2.5 years ago I pledged to explore plastic free living... I thought it would require a few simple tweaks, a bright and breezy attitude et voila... easy~green~100%~zero~waste~eco~living! 🙈 The reality was of course, not so easy nor quite so breezy. And a realisation this pledge to living lighter is more of an epic journey rather than a rose~tinted destination.
🌏
As I write, I have a single use plastic tub of yoghurt in the fridge... a mixed material carton of milk, a corn chip packet and far more I’m sure in the cupboard. I’m not proud and it’s waaaay below my originally anticipated “zero-waste” standard.
🌏
But right now, yoghurt is what I can get my 7 year old to eat for breakfast. I haven’t had time to make all our snacks from scratch and this week, rather than driving 90 mins to pick up the milk in the glass bottle, we walked our local rivers, bush trails and beaches, collecting rubbish and plastic pollution directly from our community, hoping to help our wildlife.
🌏
Im coming to understand that our actions don’t have to be perfect, nor complicated (driving 300kms to 37 different shops 🙄 for a weekly shop!)... they simply have to be sustainable for each of us... and that will look different for us all.

“The times are urgent, let us slow down” ~ Bayo Akomolafe.
~~~
As a student of slow, here’s my top medicines for slowing down...
🌿
1. Being in nature.
🌿
2. Using my hands making & creating. My old moth eaten jumper, saved from the too-old pile... feeling the love of renewal with madder-dyed yarn to stitch and hold and eucalyptus-dyed patches to bind and make whole.
🌿
3. Conscious rest: turn off the multiple browsers & tabs (internal & external), press pause on the information overload... come back to this; how are you feeling in your body. Where are you feeling your body? In these spaces, in these conscious breaths, we can come into relationship with ourselves and begin to process and integrate the (excess) information, our internal experiences and external stressors.
🌿
If you are feeling called to rest... and slow down, I’m guiding a 6 week, online rest immersion. Starts this Sunday, practising standing still, so we can still stand.
🌿
Sending ripples of slow far and wide...
Kate 🙏💚
