There is no denying the world feels unstable right now. The most obvious impact from the war in the Middle East is the price of oil.
The purpose of this post is to communicate to our customers what this means for our small family owned business. As consumers we have all felt the fuel increase when we fill our cars. Freight companies like Australia Post are feeling the same pain which will likely force them to increase the fuel surcharge that already exists. If these increases are implemented in the coming weeks we have no choice but to pass them on.
Further to fuel increases, our travel covers are manufactured with synthetic materials. The raw materials used are a derivative of oil and our suppliers are experiencing heavy raw material price increases and have already started to pass these on. Hopefully not so much on the raw canvas yet.
It is hard to predict how long these escalated prices will last. We have taken the approach to watch and monitor the situation carefully. This includes absorbing some costs in the short term on smaller materials like zips and foam and we have managed to secure a limited amount of acrylic canvas before any price rise, providing our customers with some price stability. However, this approach can’t last forever and if costs continue to escalate, we will be forced to review pricing. We anticipate this won’t be permanent and at some stage in the future, we are hopeful that prices will settle back down.
If you require further clarity around pricing and how this may impact you, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Jodie or myself.
