If you’ve only been here a minute, you may not be aware of just how enthusiastic I am about buying quality over quantity 🌏
For me, it’s less about chasing trends and more about quality, longevity and what happens to something when we’re finished with it.
Linen, cotton, h**p and wool generally make a lot of sense to me for those reasons. Natural fibres will break down significantly quicker than synthetic fibres, and as we’ve become such a throwaway society, that matters.
That 100% polyester piece you bought to go out this weekend and will likely never wear again? That garment will outlive you, your children and their children.
My issue isn’t with synthetics existing. It’s with cheap, 100% synthetic clothing being pumped out by the thousands, treated as disposable and made at a price that simply doesn’t add up ethically.
Synthetics can play a really useful role in structure, stretch and longevity, and sometimes a blended fibre genuinely makes the better product.
We’re never going to pretend that buying something new is the most sustainable option. But when we do buy new, we can still make better choices — choosing quality over quantity, buying things we genuinely love, wearing them often and keeping them for years.
