This movement promotes buying only what you need and using it until it’s finished or thoroughly worn out. When you do need to add a few mindfully chosen pieces, second-hand and vintage stores are the way to go!

Here are some tips on how to spot quality second-hand clothing:

🛍️ Natural Fibres: Look for clothing made from 100% natural fibres such as cotton, wool, silk, and linen instead of blends. These tend to be more comfortable and feel better against the skin.

🛍️ Feel the Fabric: Quality fabrics feel substantial and smooth to the touch. Avoid items that feel thin, flimsy, or overly stretchy unless they are meant to be that way (like certain knits).

🛍️ Check the stitching: High-quality clothing will have neat, even stitches with no loose threads. Double stitching and reinforced seams are signs of better construction.

🛍️ Pick Reputable Brands: Familiarise yourself with reputable brands that are known for quality. Even second-hand, these brands often hold up well.

🛍️ Wear and Tear: Look for signs of wear like pilling, fading, stains, and holes. While some wear can be acceptable (and even desirable in vintage items), excessive wear might reduce the garment’s longevity.
