Hello! 👋 Been a minute since I’ve posted. Thought I’d let you all know I’m still alive. Just got home from an awesome trip to Japan! No fabric purchases or creative exploits to share but I’m still here. I tend to go a bit quiet on socials over winter but I’m back into the routine of life- Catching up on appointments, working at my real job, making the most of my 5-9 before the 9-5, hitting the gym in the evenings and catching up with friends. We’ve even been looking at rescue dogs! Big commitment there so not rushing into anything. I do have some plans to sew some new caps and tinker with a couple new designs very soon so stay tuned if you’re here for that. I’ve learned to lean into and enjoy the comforts of “slow” season. Hope you’re all keeping well and looking after number 1. 🥰

Interrupting this funky handmade hat feed to share a bucket list item. ✅ Having some chill out time in the mountains to escape the somewhat overstimulating hustle and bustle of Tokyo. Today we visited the Wild Snow Monkey Park just outside Yudanaka. I do wish I could’ve seen them bathing in the natural (onsen) hot springs during snow season but seeing them this active was pretty amazing! 5k forest walk with 200m vertical so I’ve earned my soba noodles, onsen bath and libation today.

Facebook memory from 11 years ago of my days in Newcastle. Used to wheel my gear to the front porch and piggyback off the action of the markets down the street at Civic Park.😆 Anyhoo, guess I’ve been at this sewing thing for a while. My setup sure has changed and my sewing skills have also improved. Thanks for sticking with me and for all your support over the years. Yesterday was an amazing day! A fantastic way to end my market season until the spring. So lovely to meet so many new customers and also see so many familiar folks who keep coming back, for which I am so grateful. I’m enjoying a relaxed day today but already plotting what I’m going to make next. Wishing you all a Happy Mother’s Day 🥰💐 - Jessica

Fun scattering of plush upcycled pouches! 🌈 Second pic is the B-sides. On the 19th of this month I posted this pic of my hubs and I hanging in Sydney but deleted it because instagram was being weird and turned my pic grayscale.🙄 Anyway, fixed the issue but the caption said something to the effect of this is the last pic of me wearing my beloved Venus Visor because I accidentally left it in the back of an Uber! 😩A minute after drop off we tried ringing and texting the driver and there was no answer. Bless my hubs, he must’ve called 20 times before we gave up and got on the train home, and the week following he sent many emails to Uber. End of last week we finally heard back from the driver. I believe in miracles and I’m happy to report I received my hat in the post today- YAY!!! 😃 💃

PSA- get a magnetic hat clip for your hats or put it on your head or in your bag! I’ve received so many messages from customers over the years who’ve misplaced their one-off vintage handmade hats in trains, taxis, Ubers. 😥 I now know how devastating it feels to lose something so special! It won’t happen again.

Made a few fun gusseted zipper bags with an Australian wildflowers theme! (About 16.5 x 23cm/ 6.5 x 9in) A linen placemat, a tablecloth that I once used as a wall hanging and a little needlepoint piece I picked up at a local carboot market teamed with some groovy fabric made beautiful upcycled pouches that can be used for all sorts of things!
