Happy Independence Day Fiji! Today we celebrate the rich fijian culture, the different dialects spoken and the amazing fijian cuisine. Thankyou for inspiring many others like myself for sharing our culture with the world through fashion and lifestyle.
Although I’ve been away from home for many years, the love and pride I carry with me everywhere I go is evident of someone who has everything FIJIAN engraved and instilled in their heart, mind and soul.

BULA- In light of Fijian Language Week, I felt the need to infuse Fashion and Language and talk about an accessory or anything that's Fijian Fashion related and talk about the piece, it's Fijian name and its use.
Iri or in English, a fan, plays different roles. Not only as a fan but as an accessory to church or even a part of a 'fan dance' or 'meke iri' . Iri - Made of plaited pandanus palm leaves, voivoi, handle bound with plaited sinnet fibre, magimagi. The traditional arcing patterns woven into fans serve as markers for Fijian manufacture.
Some fans are significant to some parts of Fiji. For example the iri Buli - Woven in the style distinctive to the women of Daku village, Tailevu province. Woven from drau ni niu (coconut leaflet) of natural colour, with braided cord of magimagi (coconut sennit) tightly wrapped around the handle. Blade's commencement at centre base, woven out in vertical twill. Blade is shaped like a spade. Identical on both sides.
Happy Fijian Language Week ✌🏾

I am so honored to be the recipient for this year's Young Achiever Award and to be recognized alongside such stellar advocates of our community. Congratulations to all the finalists and winners at the ACON Honour Awards 2018. Continue to be the beacon of light with the work that you do. My heart is filled with gratitude and I couldn’t be more grateful for the immense support of my family and friends who, without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Step by step, stride after stride, I hope to share more of what I do as an artist, an advocate and a child of the Pacific Islands 🌊

A few more days until I present at The Genda Project . As much as I’m looking forward, the nerves are starting to settle in. I’m basically telling everyone my life story, I’m sure it’s ok to be a tad bit nervous about that.
But in hindsight, I am hoping that my toil and strife to what made me who I am today becomes an inspirational story to any homeboy or homegirl back in Fiji.
Invest in your dreams. Hustle NOW. Shine later.

We are much excited to announce the speaker lineup for our next talks happening on June 16th in ! Introducing Speaker, Bayvick Lawrance.
