These antique brown Allen Edmunds Strandmok cap-toe Oxfords are unique as they have a reverse patina. Rather that wear to a darker shade, they wear the layer of paint down to a lighter colour. They came in as they needed a new chestnut brown Dainite sole and heel.

This is my favourite Chanel bag to come in for restoration so far. I’m not sure what the buildings represent, but they look like Saint Petersburg. Surprisingly, this bag was extremely clean, the discolouration was deep in the leather so needed a clean, condition and repaint. At Baxter & Black, we are careful to match the colour exactly, including the sheen level of the paint. We carefully avoid stitches where needed, as well as polish all hardware.

Baxter & Black are now resoling Dr. Martens! The original soles are heat-sealed on, meaning they can’t be glued for a long-lasting repair. We are now recrafting Dr Martens boots and shoes with a hard-wearing Vibram Montagna sole. We do our best to recreate the original, including the chunkier soles and colours.

These Rick Owens boots came in needing plenty of love. We started with a thorough clean before giving them a UV bath. We finished off by adding a milk-coloured rubber rug resole.

These Aquazzura heels arrived with heavily damaged heels, requiring a full leather replacement. We carefully sourced a bronze foil leather and applied a cross-hatched layer of gold finish to recreate the original look and restore their signature elegance.

We have been seeing a lot of great buys from Japan’s online and instore vintage shops lately. Bobby brought in these Red Wing 877’s and they are one of our favourites. After Bobby showed us a few bits of inspiration, we went with a Vibram 100 sole, with dyed burgundy leather midsole and heel.

Our customer wanted these Crockett & Jones dress shoes to be changed to a Saphir dark brown colour. He had tried to change their colour by building up layers of polish, but polish only stays on hard leather areas such as the toe and heel. In the end, we dyed them to be the colour he wanted.

These new Chanel lambskin quilted mules had a rough first outing. After cleaning off the mud, we gently cleaned the lambskin. We had to straighten out the lining of the inside of the heels, before filling any holes and touching up with colour. Finally we added Casali Ballerina cover soles to add grip and longevity to the soles.
