So after what seemed like forever, between health & other projects I was finally able to finish off this lamp table.

Back in July 2023 I began a woodworking course at TAFE, to build what they call a hall table, I’m calling it a lamp table. Anyway over the next 13 weeks at TAFE (one night a week), a month or so working on other projects & the two weeks before Christmas, I was able to build this beautiful lamp table. It’s constructed out of Jarrah timber, I used dominos to join it together with dovetails for the drawer. I finished it with orange oil & beeswax.

I really enjoyed the TAFE course, my teacher Paul was a wealth of information & such a patient teacher. I not only learned plenty of woodworking techniques & how to safely use power tools but I learned how to properly sharpen my own chisels & planes. About a week into the project I decided I was going to gift it to my parents for Christmas. It was tricky keeping it secret from them all year but it was worth it.

On to other projects at Tallangatta Men’s Shed like the dinning table I’m building. Hopefully 2024 will bring about a new career path in fine furniture building.

Yesterday my beautiful son Sebastian turned 17, and his been getting into Dungeons and Dragons for about the last year.
So for the last week I spent my time at the Tallangatta Men’s Shed building him a dice box, to store his dice in as well as to roll them into during the game. I can definitely say it was a learning curve, but I really enjoyed the creative side & problem solving difficulties that popped up. All in all I love the finish & how it all turned out. Sebastian also loved it too which is what mattered most.

Continued progress on my dinning table I’m building at Tallangatta Men’s Shed.

I’m building the frame for under the table top at the moment. The frame will be a mix of Oregon, Jarrah & Blackwood.

I’m loving learning about how to create all these joins that I haven’t done before, but with the guidance of John from the Men’s Shed I’m sure they will turn out strong & beautiful.

So finally after a slow 6 months, I’ve finally been able to get this last Adirondack Chair finished.

I’ve been building it for Tallangatta Men’s Shed, to sell to raise money for the shed, so we can buy some new tools or materials.

This is the fifth chair I’ve build but I’m still impressed how well it’s turned out. We will be selling the chair for $350, so if anyone is interested please PM me, first message I receive will get to take it home. With Christmas just around the bend it would make a great gift for that special someone.

So last night at Tafe I got to dress some timber that has been sitting at the men’s shed for forever, that I’m going to use on the dinning table I am building at the Men’s Shed. It came up beautifully, I love all the grain & colours that came out, I can’t wait to start working with it & how the colours will come out with a bit of oil.

A busy few days finishing off the charcuterie board for my dear friend Jen’s birthday.

It turned out better than I expected, I’m so happy with the final result, the oil darkened up the grain so beautifully.

A couple of learning curves along the way, but turned out beautiful.

So it was a busy day in the workshop today (my local Mens Shed).

I needed to make a couple of mallets as I’ve been doing a lot of chiseling on the dinning table I’m building. So I made two different size mallets.

Then later in the day I realised I needed to make a charcuterie board, so back to the workshop I went & got stuck into making one. Luckily the Men’s Sheds secretary had brought in his plan board, so I could get a square edge on the timber, before using biscuits to join the timber together.

All round a productive & successful day. Back to the workshop in the morning to finish off these projects.

Mumma Bears Print Shop

The reason I began creating designs for T-Shirt’s was because I didn’t like any of the designs on the market. Everything had quotes & memes, that really just didn’t apply to me & nor was I interested wearing someone else’s joke.

So I would like to share some of my favourite designs the I wear casually with trackies chilling out on the couch or with a pair of jeans & a leather jacket for if I’m heading out for lunch.

Mumma Bears Print Shop- Website

I was telling a friend of mine about Mumma Bears Print Shop over the weekend & we were talking about all my different designs. And he asked me if I had any cheeky sayings on shirts. When I said no I didn’t, he asked me if I could create one for him.

And this is what he came up with, plus the promise of more tongue in cheek ideas. Full disclosure, my friend is disabled, he broke his back & is sometimes in a wheelchair. Typical Aussie taking the Micky out of his situation, love it.
