"Take Me There (Want U Back Mix)” is a song by American R&B quartet Blackstreet and singer Mya released in ‘98 under Interscope Records as the lead single and theme song from the animated film The Rugrats Movie. Produced and written by Teddy Riley, other writers include Bad Boy rapper, Michael Foster, Madeline Nelson and Tamara Savage with sampling of The Jackson 5s number one hit “I Want You Back”.

The Rugrats movie was an immediate success at the box office and it’s no different on the charts for its theme song peaking at no. 2 on the US Rhythmic Chart and no. 27 on the Billboard Hot 100. Internationally, it reached no. 1 in New Zealand where it stayed for 3 weeks and received platinum status for sales of 10K copies in the country. The single also reached no. 5 in Belgium, no. 8 in Canada and no. 9 in Ireland.

Fun Fact: Blackstreet joined the Rugrats project after finding out they were Nickelodeon’s favorite R&B bbgroup and enlisted the help of Mya and Mase to tap into what was popular with children at the time. Riley certainly knows what he’s doing.

If you need a pick me up or just need to get in a good mood this weekend, then you need to check this one out. So without further ado, here’s Blackstreet & Mya with Take Me There. Enjoy 😊

This song received immediate success upon its release reaching no. 1 on the US Rhythmic Chart and no. 2 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. It also fared well internationally, peaking at no. 7 on both the UK Dance and Hip-Hop /R&B charts and no. 22 in New Zealand with the single certified platinum by the RIAA for sales of one million copies.

"Wreckx Shop” is a song by American New Jack Swing group Wreckx-n-Effect released in ‘92 under MCA Records as the 1st single from their 2nd studio album Hard or Smooth. Written by Teddy Riley, Menton L. Smith and Aqil Davidson, this track was also co-produced by Wreck-n-Effect using multiple samples from the ’87 hit “Top Billin’” by Audio Two, ’66 hit “Papa Was Too” by Joe Tex, ‘80 hit “The Big Beat” by Billy Squier and ’73 hit “The Playback” by the Godfather of soul James Brown.

Formed in ‘88 by founding members Aqil Davidson, Markell Riley and Brandon Mitchell, the group released their 1st EP under Atlantic Records to little fanfare and it wasn’t until the group signed with Motown Records a year later where they achieved their first no. 1 song on the Billboard Hot Rap Songs chart with New Jack Swing. From there, the group moved to Future Recording Studios with Teddy Riley who is brother to Markell Riley, releasing their biggest hit of their careers with Rump Shaker in ‘92.

Coming off the success of Rump Shaker which went multi-platinum, Wreckx Shop didn’t fare as well but managed to reach a respectable no. 11 on the Billboard US Rap Chart and no. 46 on the Hot R&B / Hip-Hop chart. Internationally, it peaked at no. 40 in New Zealand and no. 26 in the UK. One thing we do know, this track was an absolute banger in the R&B / Hip-Hop Radio Stations and Clubs.

Two more singles would follow from this album with "Knock-N-Boots" and "My Cutie", both enjoyable tracks and had some commercial success amongst their fans and airwaves. We love that undeniable new jack swing sound that comes from Wreckx Shop, it just screams 90s nostalgia. We hope you enjoy this one guys, have a great weekend 😊

"Time 4 Sum Aksion” is a song by American rapper Redman released in ‘93 via Def Jam Recordings as the 2nd single from his debut studio album Whut? Thee Album. Written and co-produced by Redman along with Erick Sermon from EPMD, the track samples How I Could Just Kill a Man by Cypress Hill and Playin’ Kinda Ruff by Zapp.

Hailing from Newmark New Jersey, Redman (real name Reginald Noble) was discovered by Erick Sermon of EPMD when he was a DJ for hip hop group Lords of the Underground. He is well known (and to this day) for his constant collaboration with close friend Method Man as one half of the rap duo Method Man and Redman. The duo also branched out to film and TV as well starring together in the classic film How High and Sitcom Method Man & Redman.

Redman would gain immediate success with this single as it reached no. 1 on the Billboard Hot Rap Songs upon its release and peaked at no. 63 on the Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs Chart. Internationally, it wasn’t until 2005 where it reached no. 19 on the UK Hip Hop and R&B Singles chart.

He’s not only a rapper but a DJ, record producer and actor as well. If you have followed Redman throughout his career, you’d know he is considered one of the most humble rappers around. Time 4 Sum Aksion is one of those hype songs that gets you fired up from the get go. If you need some motivation or pick me up this weekend, then we suggest clicking play on this track. Enjoy this one guys 😊
