Happy National Refugee week!
Refugee week is a wonderful opportunity to reflect and appreciate the positive contributions refugees continue to make in our vibrant multicultural Australian society.

We would like to take this opportunity to also emphasise on the importance of providing refugees and “ those who’ve have come across the seas” with more educational, training, and development opportunities to help them rebuild their lives.

Coming from refugee background ourselves, We are so proud and grateful to call Australia home, and want to extend this gratitude to the original custodians of this land the Aboriginal people and pay our respects to their ancestors, past, present and emerging communities.

The theme of this years refugee week is healing. Healing facilitated through the power of storytelling. To celebrate this refugee week, we will be sharing inspiring stories of refugee women in our network and highlight their positive contributions.

We encourage you to take part in this too and share your story as a refugee or someone that you know about!

During this holy month of Ramadan, there have been multiple explosions targeting schools and mosques around Afghanistan. Most of these attacks have been taking place in Hazara/ Shia populated areas in Afghanistan. For decades, the Hazara people have been facing a genocide and to this day, they are still targeted by the terrorist attacks. In these recent attacks, hundreds of innocent lives have been lost and hundreds injured.

To help the victims and their families, 50% of the profits from all orders made till 02/05/2022 will be donated to Baba Mazari Foundation.

💫Sherzanan in Farsi translates to brave, courageous women. Literally, it means lionesses. Bold, confident women who are not afraid of taking on challenges and risks.

⭐️Each and every piece of this collection has been made in Western Sydney, hand crafted by our skilled sewing technicians who are of newly arrived migrant and refugee background.

Being able to utilise the skills of newly arrived migrant and refugee women in a way that empowers them financially and provides them a safe space to connect was our big purpose. And now we are on a mission or achieve this through our work at Modest Fashion Outlet.

It has been a challenge yet rewarding journey and we are so excited to see where this journey will take us! 💗
