Happy Mother’s Day 💐🌷

To the mum’s in every stage - new, seasoned, tired, healing - you are seen, valued and deeply appreciated.

Today, we celebrate you - not for how much you do (even though it’s a damn lot), but for who you are and who we are when we’re with you: strong, loving, irreplaceable and one of a kind.
You are the heart and soul of a family, the calm in the storm, the eyes and ears of reason, the organised in a world of disorganisation, and the reason your little ones live a life full of love, warmth and safety.

No one tells you about the internal fight you will have with yourself when your output today isn’t as much as your “usual” daily output. 🧠🥊

You’re in your head, telling yourself “my supply has dropped, that’s no where near as close to what I pumped yesterday, something must be wrong”

WRONG ❌

Your body isn’t a machine - it doesn’t do identical daily production runs.

One day (or even a few days) of lower than usual output doesn’t define your supply.
Keep showing up mama ✨

I was 8 weeks postpartum with my second when I had to make the decision.
I was naive and thought he would be mostly breastfed with the occasional bottle, on my terms, just like my first was. He spent weeks arching his back when I tried to latch him and when he did latch he wasn’t transferring enough milk to gain weight.
I was sad and I was angry, trying to figure out what was wrong and how to fix it. Not wanting to give up because how would I bond with him the way I did with my daughter? How would I make sure he had breastmilk until at least 9 months? (I breastfed my first until 9 months and you know, mum brain told me it needed to be fair across the board) 🤦🏼‍♀️
Then I made the decision to exclusively pump.
I went through FIVE different breast pumps before I found one I was happy with. Yes FIVE 😭
And guess what.. I still got to have sleepy cuddles, I still got to bond with him and I was still able to provide breastmilk for him until I decided it was time to hang up the pumps 🤍
Pumping is breastfeeding. There is no question, there is no argument.
Breastfeeding isn’t one size fits all. This right here is the reason I’m so passionate about my brand Luella Co.

The early days are hard! Between frequent wakings and recovering from birth - adding noisy active sleep on top can make it difficult for you to get the rest you need 😴
