Hi I have just completed this coffee table the other day. I hand drawn the artwork and then stained the design, and then shellac and waxed the top. The legs have been painted in a porters egg shell colour. It’s a solid piece. Size is 130cm length 75cm wide 45cm high. It’s up for sale if anyone is interested in it.
Let me know what you think of it?

UPDATE: Thanks Revival Café Boonah for this pearler! Boonah is a beautiful town in the Scenic Rim of SE Qld. It has free overnight camping at the Info Centre, and paid camping at the Showground. There are beautiful old pubs, dams and national parks, plus more camping to check out. I worked out there years back - it also has a great, family owned newspaper - Fassifern Guardian :)

This is a great idea.

I don’t expect many of you to see this because it’s not the most riveting of topics…

But today I created a basic survey to gain some insight from care staff in the Aged and Disability sectors. My goal was to gain a fuller picture of future staff attrition, the workforce shortage, average employee engagement and do some current and expected salary benchmarking.

In the last 2 hours from my stories alone I’ve heard from over 200 current staff (60% frontline carers) and whilst I’m not shocked; I’m really taken back by the size of the risk facing the industry.

With an average experience of 5 years; the staff nominated a 62% likelihood of leaving the industry in the next 2 years. I’m a workforce planner; but I don’t even need to be to understand how devastating that statistic is.

There’s a whole range of drivers. With the top three predictably being Remuneration, Culture and Progression opportunities.

I want to help. The threat of trained and experienced staff leaving the industry in droves should be enough for us to take action. We need to band together to create a meaningful solution in ensuring a sustainable workplace for current staff and an attractive workplace to potential staff.

Well it all starts with information.

So here’s my deal…. Participate in my questionnaire anonymously; let me advocate for the changes you want to see. Let me present it back to the industry and ask the tough questions. I can directly send you the insights and responses if you say you want them.

Just remember guys. The leadership we need right now isn’t the executive. It’s the frontline. And the only way things get better is if that’s the loudest voice in the room.
