This week we went through the archives to find silks that had a rich finish and bring them to life as one off bow ties. Finished with our rose gold clasps or what we refer to as hardware which is a slide and hook - or technically they are often referred to as an 8 and 9 clip - but ours are stamped with our logo and far more elegant. Made in Australia 🇦🇺 - and there are maybe at best two or three of us left. We source from Italy, the UK and Japan for our jacquard silks and as far as I can tell, we’ve met almost every weaver, and we have chosen to work with the best of the best.

A very different post. Something about my private life. I’m selling my wonderful Vaucluse apartment that if you know how much I love my details you’ll know just how much I applied that to finishing this beautiful high ceiling art deco apartment with views direct to the harbour bridge, a bathroom unlike any other I’ve seen, custom made timber veneer barn doors with Japanese handle bars on brass frames, a mobile kitchen, buster and punch switches - just the bees knees. Only no elevator. I’m trusting one of my customers and someone I consider a friend to sell it - Conrad Panebianco of PPD and you can book to see it by calling him on +61 412 290 290 . You’ll find Conrad a pleasure to deal with. And if you buy it after seeing this post I’m going to leave my my electric bike in the garage for this area is a stones throw from the netted beach swims of both Nielson Park and Watsons Bay and right next to the start of the Hermitage Walk which I consider one of my top three walks for Sydney. Only 2 more weeks to go and good news for you - slow time in the market and I believe only one contract out at the moment. Thank you Conrad for being both an excellent customer and for taking on this responsibility.

Last one of the new scarf designs I promise. But this time I’m doing something a little different. Our first sirens ever produced were these three beauties and the design was one of our most cherished for men love knowing they have something slightly naughty in their top pocket for which nobody really knows what it is when folded. These sirens were inspired by my trip to Norman Lindsay’s Springwood estate and were completed by illustrator Christian Tölg from Germany. We now have set them into the Great Barrier Reef and given them a new setting for which to tempt you as either a silk scarf or pocket square. These Sirens Return …. Coming soon. 🔜

These roast bow ties still give me great inspiration as does Don Rickles.

A customer called from Los Angeles needing an immediate pick up, another one sent a WhatsApp from New York for a bow and bund set, a local call came in asking if we did alterations (we don’t but Google calls us a custom tailor by category) and a lady came in for the third time for us to re-tie her husbands bow tie which is now more than a decade old but still after pruning looks near enough to brand new - but otherwise things are very quiet - quiet enough to have some horizontal fun on my chesterfield with my new illustrator and prepare the new silk scarves and pocket squares for printing. This one is an homage to a designer I love I wonder if you can tell who that is ? And when I had the idea for this one it was post my trip to Japan and before the communist party of Australia decided to scare the living daylights out of the already nervous nelly consumers of Australia … I have probably said it many times before but an Italian farmer in the snowys once said to me “nicholas, how do you make God laugh?” - I said I didn’t know. He said “tell him you’ve got a plan” . So there is a bit of schadenfreude in this design because it is titled “the futures so bright I have to wear shades” …. How’s your future looking right now ? You know you can stop past the studio right and just hang out if you are worried about spending money I’d be happy to have the company. Much ❤️ I’m not hard to find. Have a great weekend.
