This Outlander meets outback theme is everything!!

When Elise contacted me to create her bespoke dress back in March, I wasn't sure where to start, but I'm so happy to see where we ended up with these gorgeous photos from with the stunning Flinders Ranges for a backdrop.

The brief was Claire from Outlander, 1800's western saloon, roses, and can we possibly use some of Mum's dress and maybe some blue.

This is the beautiful culmination of ideas.
5 pieces consisting of corset, underskirt, blouse, stays, and ruffled skirt with drawstring to create a second look, ready for bootscooting.

This gorgeous gown was in the process of being brought to life when Covid struck. A year later than planned to go down the aisle but better late than never. I loved creating this unique gown with all the handpicked laces pieced together to create L's vision for her day.

Draping is one of my favourite parts of designing. It's all about controlling the flow of fabric around the body without forcing it. Many pins are required and a sturdy body form to mould to.
I found a second hand dress form yesterday and am so happy to add her to my studio. I've been on the lookout for one for years. I can't wait to start draping her in beautiful fabrics. 😁😀
Now to name her. Any suggestions??

Holy Guacamole!! There's more than a few pattern pieces to trace here. 45 seperate pattern pieces, most of those used to cut duplicates of fabric and lining and interfacing.
I'm finally getting around to making my husband the suit I promised him 2 years ago. Clearly theres a good reason I've put it off for this long already. 😅
Give me wedding dresses any day. 🤣
