Yesterday, opened her home for a garden walk and lunch — sharing knowledge, growing food in our climate, and connecting over something we all need… food.
But it felt like so much more.
The way she leads isn’t loud or showy — it’s grounded in love, empathy, and genuine kindness. And because of that, people come. They gather, share, open up. You can feel the community the moment you step into her world.
What really stood out was the mix of people — all from completely different walks of life, all at different stages of growing their own food. Some just starting, some well on their way… and everything in between.
But none of that mattered.
Because what she’s created isn’t just a garden — it’s a space where people feel welcome. No judgement. Just “start where you are.”
Use what you already have.
Don’t overcomplicate it.
Don’t spend a fortune chasing “perfect.”
Use recycled materials, free resources — make it work.
Her whole approach is simple in the best way — permaculture, no-dig, working with the ecosystem, not against it. A kind of “lazy gardening” that isn’t lazy at all… it’s intentional, thoughtful, sustainable — and focused on what actually matters: growing food.
And I think that’s why it stayed with me.
Because underneath the garden walk and shared lunch… it felt like something we need more of right now.
A quiet grounding in a chaotic world.
A reminder we can choose a different way.
That we don’t need more… we just need to come back to what matters.
I’ve been feeling a bit disconnected lately, if I’m honest — and being there shifted something. It brought me back to what actually matters.
Her home reflected that too — not perfect, not staged — just real. Full of life. A place where people gather, where conversations happen, where something deeper is being built.
And seeing one of my paintings there, part of that space… that was really special.
And maybe that’s the thing…
It all seems so simple —
but it’s actually everything.
Because this isn’t just about gardening.
It’s about feeding your family.
Independence.
Connection.
Community.
And people like Eliza are quietly showing what that can look like 🤍
