70 Years in Footwear Business!

Rauert’s has now been open for 73 years! Uncle Ron’s famous train has become a landmark in Warrnmabool, multiple generations of families have all sat in the same spot to get fitted for shoes. This is something that now, is not very common. We take great pride in providing a great shoe fitting experience, knowledge and excellent customer service.

Listed is our history.

1941 At age 14, young Ron Rauert "founder" served a five year shoe repair apprentership with master craftsman Mr. James Moy of Dimboola earning 15 shillings a week. Ron was trained in all aspects of shoe repair and was even taught the art of making shoes from scratch.

1946 At age 19 Ron summoned the courage and opened his own shoe repair business in Ballarat called "Swift Shoe Repairs" which he operated for 3 years.
