About a month ago I had a message from a lady to see if I was able to get a specific yarn to recreate a toy for her son who has autism. She had found my knitting page through a google search as I had a vest made with the same yarn she was looking for. After some searching I found the yarn had been discontinued and I was not able to get it anymore. She asked if I'd be happy to repurpose the vests and I was happy to do so. It was then I found out they lived in the UK. So I got to work with only a couple of pictures for reference to recreate this toy that her son had an attachment to as a young child. I shipped it off hoping it would arrive before Christmas and was delighted to see it had arrived safely and in time for Christmas. She was so excited and could not wait to give it to her son at Christmas time and gave it to him early. She sent through some videos and they made me cry. He cried when he saw it and hugged it so tightly. It was just so beautiful to see his reaction to something that meant so much to him. It was an absolute pleasure to be able to recreate this special toy that will now be treasured for life.
