আর এই কঠিন বাস্তবতায় নীরবে সবচেয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করেন ধাত্রীরা এবং Midwives। অনেক সময় চিকিৎসক বা হাসপাতালের সুবিধা না থাকলেও, তাঁদের অভিজ্ঞতা, সাহস এবং যত্নই একজন মাকে নিরাপদে সন্তান জন্ম দিতে সহায়তা করে। তাঁরা শুধু একটি শিশুর জন্মেই সহায়তা করেন না, একজন মায়ের পাশে সবচেয়ে কঠিন মুহূর্তেও শক্ত হয়ে দাঁড়িয়ে থাকেন।
তাদের গল্প শুনে মনে হলো, উন্নয়নের প্রকৃত অর্থ তখনই পূর্ণ হবে, যখন দেশের প্রত্যন্ত অঞ্চলের প্রতিটি মা নিরাপদ মাতৃত্বের অধিকার, দক্ষ ধাত্রীর সেবা এবং প্রয়োজনীয় চিকিৎসাসেবা নিশ্চিতভাবে পাবেন।
This young woman from the char is only 18 years old, yet she is about to give birth to her second child. Her husband earns a living by transporting passengers on a motorbike within the char. It’s a simple life, but one filled with resilience and daily struggles.
In these difficult circumstances, midwives or traditional birth attendant play an invaluable role. Even when doctors or hospitals are not within reach, their experience, dedication, and care help mothers give birth safely. They do more than assist with childbirth—they stand beside women during one of the most challenging moments of their lives.
Meeting this family reminded me that development is only meaningful when every mother, no matter where she lives, has access to safe motherhood, skilled midwifery care, and essential healthcare services.
