Almost a decade ago we didn't have fancy hijabs in Bd. There wasn't much of a trend for wearing intricately worked hijabs with party wear and all, esp in weddings. A store in Dhaka brought one batch of customised hijabs and never restocked them. So I had to search for decorative hijabs online
I was searching for pretty hijabs to wear with sarees at events and dawats. My search led to a lady, Nusrat, who was petite, charming, witty and brimming with extravagance.
She had these fashionable hijabs. However, they would always be sold out. After every live I would try to purchase a hijab or two but never could.
I was new to online shopping so by the time I would be able to place any order, the ones I selected would be out of stock. It left me frustrated and annoyed and once I even left their group because of repeated rejections.
I also wondered why people would be such huge fans of her despite me being somewhat rebuffed by the abrupt behaviour.
Soon I started adapting to online shopping and realised I was blinded by my ignorance into thinking they were curt whereas I had perceived it all wrong based on false assumption and lack of experience in this field.
Gradually I began to see a wonderful person, cheery and carefree, lighthearted and easygoing, blithe and upbeat, explaining why she was so popular.
By then I saw hijabi people all around me wearing her hijabs and some were even copying this line of business and I was drawn back to her group.
I realised the allure of her hijabs. And why she had clients eagerly waiting and vying for her hijabs, and how her hijabs would be sold out even before the lives ended.
Each hijab had only one design.
In one colour.
And only one piece.
They were unique.
They were the only ones in existence.
They were not repeated.
They were signature designs.
Every live had a different design, never to be repeated.
And it just wasn't hijab designs that drew in customers. It was the woman behind the label. Her personality.
Her warmth.
Her presence.
Her existence.
She was generous and friendly, and business dealings with her went beyond business. Her clientele became her fnf. And together we have been under this banner of a family called Purity for over 10 years.
Purity may sometimes recreate most popular hijab designs on request, customise them for your outfit, and even make or add in your own ideas into the overall finished good to make it yours.
They have expanded to including modest couture in the form of modest attires, abayas, and capes. They have allowed those who wish to dress modestly have a wide range of fancy festive wear while keeping them covered.
The popularity of modest couture by Purity By Nusrat has grown so much that their studio expanded into flagship outlets, the most recent being in Centrepoint near Uttara.
Apart from being Nusrat the Entrepreneur, she is also Nusrat the kind and considerate lady, generous and compassionate, caring and supportive, altruistic and conscientious.
She looks after her family and friends, clients and staff, and is devoted towards everyone.
As a person I have learnt to love the person inside her.
I am deeply honoured she remembered me and honoured me with this crest. And not to mention my hijab collections are mostly from her line.
