The violent response to the peaceful and apolitical student movement which underscored several tragic loss of life (on direct order of the head of the government) highlights the ongoing challenges in Bangladesh regarding freedom of expression, the right to peaceful assembly, and the struggle for systemic reform. Police and Paramilitary forces opened firing a barrage of ammunition arbitrarily at unarmed students stuck in the dormitories of Dhaka University and Jahangirnagar University. They cut the power and internet connection there. These students have no access to food water and emergency medical supplies whatsoever to save life. Many of them are critically injured counting for their lives and appealing to the nation to come forward and rescue them.
