I had a great time at .flamingo last month! Thank you to everyone who came to say hi 🥰💕

It’s been a few years since I’ve done a makers market like this. In the past I would often leave a market feeling dissappointed, not having sold much and feeling awkward about fairly pricing my handmade items. Luckily, as my business grows I also become more confident as a business owner, and this year I had so much fun! 🤗

Turning your hobby into your job can make it hard to disconnect from work and hang on to the joy of creating. Pivoting my business to sewing patterns (and having the security of my teaching job 😅), has given me breathing room to create handmade items for my shop while really taking my time and enjoying the process 🪡

This year’s market reminded me of the things I find most important: connecting with fellow creatives and small business owners, talking to people who want to wear my clothes and sew my patterns, feeling the support of family and friends, and handmaking items that I like so much I want to keep them for myself (like the project bags in de 2nd slide, one of which I have since claimed for my own knitting projects 😂)
