The European Fashion Council (EFC) turned 15 years
An anniversary program has started with 15 events and 5 causes in the 10 member-states locations
The ELECTIONS for A NEW MANDATE and GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE determine the development fashion industry of the EU and Europe
Created, during the impressive German Presidency of the Council of the EU, under the honorary patronage of the EU, represented by H.Ex. Michael HUMPHRIES (Ireland) - Ambassador of the EU, and in the wonderful European Year of Intercultural Dialogue (2007), today, 15 years later, in the marvelous European Year of Youth (2022), May 19th marked another anniversary of the European Fashion Council, traditionally celebrated as European Fashion Day.
The European Fashion Union started just before the 2007-2009 financial crisis, the so-called Great Recession. Soon after we've experienced the Arab Spring revolutions, the war in Libya, Syria, ISIS and far-right extremist attacks in Europe, the European migrant crisis with a failed coup in Turkey, the Euromaidan protest and start of war in Ukraine, Yellow vests and European civil uprisings, like other famous global disasters, today's 15th anniversary means that all the fashion industries of 11 then, today 28 member-states, have survived. After the last 2 years in the dramatic and chaotic pandemic of COVID-19, they already have the vision for the next 8 years, in which they could significantly achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, also within the fashion industry.
It has not been easy in Europe all these years, also for the EFC, but the European Union of Arts and Ideas has managed to preserve and unleash its potential. Through its unrivaled evolutionary strategy and now by the implementation of a one-year jubilee program of 15 events and 5 causes at locations in 10 of the 28 member states, the European Brain Trust has identified three main areas for promoting the fashion industry.
Their forsed work started with the first of them and this is the cause of supporting young designers and their connection with the industry. An indisputable recognition of the hard work for promoting the European fashion prestige of the young generations of Europeans is the grant agreement signed by the European Commission on May 19th, 2022 for the ERASMUS + project as extremely necessary for the future of the pan-European fashion industry. That is so-called FEA - VEE („Fashion Earth Alliance – Vocational Excellence and Enterprise united for training, policy reform and sustainability in the fashion, textiles and apparel industries") It starts in June 2022, will last until 2027 and will be a solid basis for the development and implementation of the new ERASMUS+ Fashion program, identical to ERASMUS+ Sport, from and together with the European Commission.
The FEA - VEE project is managed and implemented by 5 EFC member-states (Bulgaria, Romania, Germany, Sweden and Spain) in partnership with Greece and Italy for the benefit of creators from all European countries, without exception. Its based on the producing of the European GRADUATE FASHION WEEK with the participation of graduates from schools, colleges, academies and universities majoring in fashion, textiles and design in Europe. Its opening edition will be May 2nd-8th, 2023 in Sofia, Bulgaria and then traditionally on a rotating basis in Bucharest (Romania), Berlin (Germany), Stockholm (Sweden), Madrid (Spain), etc. The event also includes the accompanying but important one-week DESIGNERS PLENARY and the year-round platform European JOB BANK (EJB). The EJB was designed by Dutch experts with the outhor Frank VERSPOOR, spokesman and representative of the EFC Ethical Committee, designer and author of the extended version of the EU logo, modified and approved by the Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU (2011) and other the European Institutions as a simbol of the EFC.
No less important are the subsequent prestigious events for young fashion designers. These are GALA MET TRANSILVANIA on June 15, 2022 in Cluj-Napoca (Romania) with the media support of the world fashion giant www.ftv.com, which also includes expert FASHION TALKS on the topic: FASHION and CULTURE. And more: European DESIGN EXCHANGE on 15-16 January 2023 for direct and digital meetings of fashion designers and industry to negotiate orders and commitments, which will be in the Ancient Plovdiv (Bulgaria), as well as the global competition with fashion shows and educational seminars for sustainable fashion ECOLUTION as part of the SERBIA FASHION WEEK in the European Capital of Culture Novi Sad-2022 in November and again in April 2023. In this way, the EFC intelligently and innovatively records the involvement of the fashion industry in accelerating action in support of the Sustainable Development of the United Nations (UN) as part of the UN Conscious Fashion and Lifestyle Network.
The second direction and cause of the jubilee program for the 15th anniversary of EFC is to promote the high class of established names and fashion brands in fashion design of the EU and Europe, which are the face and pride of the EU and Europe to the world. For them are the prestigious editions of the BELGIAN FASHION WEEK in May and December 2022 in the Ballroom of the Royal Opera House in Gent, Belgium, the BRIDAL FASHION WEEK & AWARDS in July 10-16, 2022 and January 2023 in the Revival Residence-Thracian Stan Plovdiv Bulgaria, TRANSILVANIAN FASHION FESTIVAL in the pearl - city of Cluj-Napoca from 9th to 11th of September 2022, FASHION WEEKS of the CZECH Republic and BULGARIA in the capitals of Sofia (1-7.10.2022 and 1-7.04.2023) and Prague (11 -15.10.2022)
The anniversary program also launched the latest fashion authority of the EU and Europe: EUROPEAN FASHION WEEK and EUROPEAN FASHION AWARDS. They will be held and handed out traditionally, once a year, hosted by the member state of the newly elected President of the Presidential Council of the EFC, always from 12th to 19th of May 2023, and subsequently rotated in the member-states of the newly elected Presidents of the other 5 managerial positions of the organization.
This is the third direction in which the EFC team started working hard. It is related to the preparation and holding of ELECTIONS for NEW MANAGEMENT of the organization with a mandate to manage until 2027. The nominations are already open for a new one President of the Presidential Council of the EFC with 1st High Representative Foreign Affairs of the EFC and 1 Vice President, President of the Supervisory Board of the EFC, Vice-president of the Supervisory Board with 1 member-state and headquarters with online control of the EFC bank account, President of the European Fashion Executive Commission (EFEC) with the election of number of sectors for a management, members of the EFEC as Fashion Commissioners, and headquarters, Fashion Prosecutor and President of the Legal Committee with headquarters, President of the European Fashion Week zone, Vice president and eligible of members-countries with Headquarters, President of the European Fashion Investment Board (EFIB), Vice president and 7 regional members for Northern, Northwestern, Northeastern, Southern, Southwestern, Southeastern and Central Europe, President of the EFC Ethical Commission, Vice-president with 1 more member-state, Honor President of the EFC, Honor Members and Member-state. The new mandates with 5 more seats in different EFC member-states will define the development and strengthen the foundations of the decentralized management of the EU and European fashion industry for the next 5 years, as well as the directions for expanding its partnerships with European institutions, global partners, Governments and NGOs from Asia, South and North America to Australia, Africa, the Middle East and Russia.
Scheduled for September 10th, 2022 in Cluj-Napoca, Transylvania, Romania, the SUMMIT OF THE EUROPEAN FASHION COUNCIL is the 4th GENERAL ASSEMBLY of the organization. It will publicly report on the results of interactions with the current French Presidency of the Council of the EU, guidelines to and from the forthcoming Czech Republic in the second half of 2022 and targets for the next Sweden in the first half of 2023. This is currently due on August 6th, then on October 14-15, 2022 and February 23rd, 2023 for the progress in the implementation of the 3 innovative causes and projects: EUROPEAN CAPITAL OF FASHION as a development of the traditional European capital of Culture of the EU, BALKAN FASHION WEEK & AWARDS in support of the Western Balkans and EURO FASHION WEEK ZONE, identical to the Eurozone, but for united, legal and strong management and investments with high quality production, all three causes the publicly signed Protocol of Action in Novi Sad, Serbia.
The European Fashion Council invites and looks forward to working with all stakeholders in the EFC mission to promote and support European fashion and pointed a special focus on the fashion industry in the severely affected areas of Eastern Europe as a result of military operations in Ukraine (1 of 11 members-states and founder of EFC).

For his mission, the nominations for Presidential and Vice-Presidential positions are open, along with the registration for the participation of young artists, established fashion brands and designers, advertisers, media partnerships, trade associations, platforms and investors.
