O tricô é uma técnica para entrelaçar o fio (de lã ou outra fibra têxtil) de forma organizada, criando-se assim um pano que, por suas características de textura e elasticidade, é chamado de malha de tricô ou simplesmente tricô. Pode ser feito manualmente, com duas agulhas, ou só com uma que, além de propiciar o entrelaçamento do fio (criando cada ponto), abrigam a m
alha de tricô já tecida. Os belgas levaram a técnica aos ingleses onde as mulheres a desenvolveram para produzir meias e cachecóis que protegessem seus maridos e filhos no inverno. Usavam fios de lã pura que elas mesmas produziam. Por isso até hoje o tricô está relacionado ao inverno, o que a tecnologia reinventou, levando-a também para as malhas de verão através de fios leves e apropriados. A mortalha tecida por Penélope para poder ser desfeita só poderia ser feita em tricô, visto que ela a desfazia a noite para ganhar mais prazo para espera do seu amado Odisseu (A malha permite o descampionamento que é jeito ligeiro de desfazer um tecido de malha - os outros processo de tecimento não possuem nada semelhante). O tricô pode também ser feito através de máquinas próprias chamadas de máquinas de tricô, o que também resulta num pano muito semelhante à malha manualmente tecida. Essa é a nossa Arte!

History of Knitting
The knitting is a technique for weaving the yarn (wool or other textile fiber) in an organized manner, thus creating a cloth, for its texture and elasticity, is called a mesh or simply knitting.
