A teen from Limpopo, South Africa has been getting attention for a safety invention that looks like a normal earring.
Bohlale Mphahlele, who was 16 when she developed the idea, created what she calls the "Alerting Earpiece", a discreet wearable designed to help in an emergency. Reports say it can take a photo of an attacker, share the wearer’s GPS location, and send an alert to chosen contacts and emergency services within seconds.
She has spoken about wanting to develop it further and eventually bring it to market, with the goal of helping people get help faster and keep evidence that could support an investigation.
