✨ MEET THE OWNER ✨

Hi, I’m Al-Marie Smith — the heart and hands behind AVID Custom Bags & Accessories.

I am a wife, mother of three, and an educator, with a lifelong love for creating beautiful things. From the time I was a little girl, you could always find me making clothes for my Barbie dolls or crafting something with my hands. Creating has always been a part of who I am.

AVID Custom Bags & Accessories was officially birthed in 2012, after I took a shell craft class at church offered by BAIC. That experience sparked something deeper, and my journey continued through an accessory class at BTVI, where the vision expanded into bags, portfolios, clutches, and more.

I draw much of my inspiration from nature and natural materials — things found around the home and in my surroundings. Working with straw, fabric, and other natural elements allows me to create pieces that are not only beautiful, but meaningful.

Creating is my place of peace. It relaxes me, grounds me, and reminds me that this is a gift God has placed in my hands — a gift I’m called to share with others. One day, I hope to offer classes and pass on what I’ve learned, encouraging others to discover their own creativity.

I truly believe that my gift will make room for me, and I’m grateful for every person who supports this journey.
