In a trip down memory lane, I found myself fondly thinking back on my adventures through the readings of Roald Dahl books. They contirbuted to the development of my imaginative thinking, and finding confidence in my voice.

As nostaglia sits in, I'm reconnecting with my inner child, building my own collection of his work, one second hand book at a time.

I’ve noticed the same generic flyer style making the rounds lately, in those dark blue and gold/brown hues, just with different event details.

At first glance, it feels familiar, and that’s the challenge. Even when the layout changes, the colours immediately signal to the brain, “I’ve seen this before.” The result? People are more likely to scroll past without giving it a second look.

AI is great for making some things easier, but this particular template/generation… I don’t think it’s doing brands or events any favours. 😕

Maybe it’s time to head back to Canva (or better yet, create something original). Your flyer should make people pause, not assume they’ve already seen it. 🤗

Last month was a profound reminder of why cultural exchange and creative diplomacy matter. ✨

I had the honour of joining fellow creatives for a full day of cultural immersion hosted by the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Botswana, an experience that took us beyond learning about a country’s history and into understanding how identity, memory, and resilience are preserved through art and storytelling.

The Embassy of Ukraine in Botswana is still relatively young, having been established just two years ago. During the visit, I was curious about why this relationship was only being formalised now, and I learned about Botswana’s historical support for Ukraine during the UN peace discussions. A moment which strengthened the connection between our two nations. Motho ke motho ka batho. 🇧🇼

I was deeply moved by Ukraine’s commitment to protecting and celebrating its cultural heritage, even amidst the immense challenges the nation continues to face. While I cannot begin to fully comprehend the realities Ukrainians are living through, witnessing the intentional preservation of their language, traditions, symbols, and stories was both humbling and inspiring.

From exploring folk traditions and historical narratives, to watching Bread from the Minefield and engaging with Ukrainian artists Lesia Khomenko and Kateryna Aliinyk, the experience highlighted the role creatives play in safeguarding collective memory and shaping how the world understands a people’s story.

As a multidisciplinary Creative Director at Decisive.bw, I am continually reminded that culture is one of our greatest forms of expression. Through fashion, film, art, and design, we have the ability to carry histories forward, create connections across borders, and build bridges between communities.

Grateful to the Embassy of Ukraine for creating a space where dialogue, learning, and cultural exchange could flourish.

One of my favourite parts about working in film is seeing how many people come together to create what eventually ends up on screen.

When you watch a film, you see the final product. What you don't see is the incredible team behind it, the fatigue and laughs. Here are a few behind-the-scenes moments from Abashwe; a romantic comedy written by Batswana, starring a Botswana cast, and brought to life by an incredible team of local professionals.

The film premiered on DStv's Mzansi Magic in November 2025, and I believe (or at least I hope!) it's still airing. If you haven't watched it yet, this is your sign to set a reminder.

Being part of this production was another milestone, not just personally, but for Botswana's film industry. Abashwe formed part of the second season of what began in 2024 as the first non-South African content commissioned for Mzansi Magic.

Here's to the people behind the stories, and the collective effort it takes to bring them to life. ✨
