A common alteration for gowns is adjusting the waist. Removing and restitching the zipper is a classic alteration that doesn’t interfere with the form or construction of the bodice, but can easily adjust the dress to fit better.

I never quite got that “yes to the dress” moment that so many brides-to-be dream of. But after hours of sitting at the machine, when I finally put my wedding dress on for the first time, it felt like my “yes to the dress” moment. 🤩

Welcome to Stand Tall Sewing and Alterations!
My name is Karah Smith and I am the seamstress behind Stand Tall Sewing. Ever since I was a girl I dreamed of having my own sewing business. I’m thrilled to have made it a reality! I do alterations for bridal gowns and suits, grad, and everyday wear. Located in Abbotsford BC.

A little background:
I know that at 6’3” it can be difficult, if not impossible, to find clothes that fit well. That’s why I started alterations. To be able to stand tall knowing my clothes fit well and look good for my body type. There is no “one size fits all” and I love helping others fall in love with what they wear because it fits them perfectly. I enjoy working with different types of fabrics and materials and I’m excited to enable others to stand tall as well.
