Darrell Thomas Textiles originally opened its doors September 18, 2000 and quickly became well known for providing the most beautiful and original dressmaking textiles in Ottawa, Canada. this store was opened with the purpose of providing the sewing community a boutique with well represented Textiles and Sewing Classes. We opened our first store in the 240 Sparks Shopping Centre, which is located

in the downtown core of Ottawa. At this location, we sold high quality textiles for clothing as well as a selection of Home Couture articles such as pillows, throws, and pillars. But after four years, we found that we had outgrown our premises and decided to look for a new home. A charming building with a lot of style and class. At this location, not only do we sell high quality dressmaking textiles and designer buttons (43 000 in stock), but we also offer Sewing classes and a line of designer Clothing. The tariffs that have been applied to Canada, impact all small based business’ and we need you now more than ever. As Canada’s relationship with the United States continues to change, we believe it is time for those of us who love sewing and fashion to stand together and support our Canadian sewing industry.

When you purchase fabric, buttons, patterns, sewing machines, scissors from a Canadian sewing business, you’re doing much more than purchasing what you need, you’re helping keep a Canadian business alive. You are supporting Canadian jobs, Canadian families, Canadian suppliers and you’re helping ensure that there will still be a sewing industry here for future generations.

We also want to make one thing clear: supporting Canadian sewing stores doesn’t necessarily mean shopping in person. Many wonderful Canadian fabric and sewing stores, including ours, have invested heavily in online shopping so that customers from around the world can support them from wherever they live.

After a much-needed 2 week summer vacation, we’re rested, refreshed, and very happy to be back OPEN and back to our regular hours.

The doors are open, the lights are on, and the fabrics are waiting! We cannot wait to welcome all of our wonderful clientele back into Darrell Thomas Textiles.

Thank you for your patience while we took some time to recharge. We’re excited to get back to sharing beautiful fabrics, buttons, sewing treasures, and inspiration with you.

It is time for us to take a little break and recharge after a challenging year so far. Hopefully 🤞 the tariffs and the negativity can stop and we can move forward together.

Darrell Thomas Textiles will be closed for our annual summer vacation from August 1st through August 17th.

We look forward to some well-deserved rest and spending time with family and friends before returning refreshed and inspired.

We reopen on Tuesday, August 18th, and all online orders placed during our vacation will be packed and shipped beginning August 18th.

We truly appreciate your continued support of our small independent business and look forward to welcoming you back when we return.

Huge shoutout to the volunteer team of painters of Puppets Up! . These volunteers handpainted most of the storefronts here in Almonte for the puppets up festival.

The volunteer who selected our window noticed that in our display, we had some designer Gucci pillows. When they painted the design they incorporated the logo onto the painting! The attention to detail is absolutely magnificent.
