Summer festivals are one of the best parts of Ontario summers… but they can also be really rough on local wildlife if we’re not careful.
Birds like gulls, pigeons, sparrows and even crows are heavily drawn to festivals because of leftover food and overflowing garbage. The problem is that human food, plastic waste, drink lids and other litter can seriously harm them. Birds can become dependent on human food sources, get tangled in trash or accidentally ingest things they shouldn’t.
If you’re heading to a festival this summer, one of the easiest ways to help local wildlife is just making sure your garbage actually makes it into a bin (and stays there if it’s windy 😅). Small things really do make a difference.
Anyways… here’s some little moments from last year at in Barrie 🎠☀️🍦
